Comments (16)lgmd, your insect is a wheel bug, one of the predatory true bugs. It stabs its victims (other isects, usually) with a hollow proboscis, injects a little predigestive fluid, then sucks the innards into its own stomach. They can also deliver a nasty stab to an unsuspecting human or other curious animal, complete with a delivery of the digestive fluid. As I recall, extra credit was offered to students at Va.
