Rather lovely actually, if perhaps unwanted at this time of year. I always think trees and conifers covered in snow are a match for any rose in full bloom.

However, I hope it doesn't last long for you.

It is very pretty and we will be back in the 60s and 70s starting tomorrow. I think it even got to 80 this past week.

We love the moisture but the unknown is how much damage it does to the evergreens. Last heavy wet one we had took down some pretty major branches, requiring a chain saw to clean them out.

Is this normal Colorado?

Yes, March and April are our snowiest months. We are advised to not prune our roses until after Mother's Day. This is to protect the living portions by using the dead cane as a buffer and to not stimulate the new growth yet. Sometimes we will get a big snow storm after Mother's Day but it isn't common. Hail is more likely.

It can be hard to enjoy this time of year, esp especially when you’ve had a taste of spring, but it does look really nice. Sometimes I have to put my mind back in a winter mindset and ignore the calendar. Hopefully warmer weather will be back your way soon :)

Yes, back in winter mindset. We made pumpkin and sweet potato pies. Someone on Nextdoor once posted after one of our big spring storms, you can enjoy the snow or rail against the snow. With one approach you are happy, with the other approach you are unhappy. But the snow will be there either way.

Exactly! I love that you baked pie - I may have to start doing that when it snows in spring. I mean, who can feel grumpy when there’s pie?!?

The weather lately was too good to last. Classic Colorado. But with any luck all the rain and snow we got will help boost more spring growth to compensate for any damage sustained.

Sad for the roses but beautiful to look at and be in. I hope they weren't too far advanced. And won't be set back by much.

wow!!! We got snow like that here last week...but nothing was actively growing. The trees didn't even put out buds. I really hope that the damage will be minimal.

I think the damage will be minimal. The storm we had a month or so ago took out the weak material because it was several rounds of wet heavy snow that piled on over night.

I posted pics of this one because I thought it was spectacular. The whole world looked like it had frosting on it. But first thing that morning our trees and bushes got whacked with poles, knocking alot of it off.

What a difference a day makes!
