I found out how to post pics, Also: is it tacky/wrong to use a wall-mounted hood over a freestanding range? I usually see nice range hoods over slide in ranges or cooktops. Thoughts?

I have a bad back and really love standing on my parents' cork kitchen floor, which they had installed 8 years ago. Their floor has weathered well and they have had no problems. This past year we renovated our kitchen and I looked into cork. The market has changed a lot. A ton of companies have been sold and combined. We got samples and did tons of research and couldn't find a company that has as much actual cork in the flooring as what my parents had. Such a small percentage is actually cork and much more of it is just underlayment material. We also had a hard time finding really experienced installers - and we live in NYC where you can find pretty much anything you want. It used to be very popular here but since so few people are using it, there are fewer installers who really know what they are doing. It is not the most beautiful flooring for sure, so in the end we really could not find a reason to use it.

A 3-seat sofa and two upholstered armchairs are the most flexible to arrange. People like to have arms to lean on, and sectionals don't offer that to the majority of guests, plus no one wants to sit in the corner unless you have 5-year olds who want to wrestle and argue over the corner seat. Can you get a second chair like the one you have already? Your coffee table is a bit too large and bulky for the room and a sectional will be too. Can't see where the entry is, but your room will be more welcoming if the TV is not the first thing guests see on entering. Maybe the sofa and TV walls need to flip. If you keep the TV credenza, I would paint it to match the woodwork and built-in cabinet.

The dresser appears the "leftover/stepsister" in a really pretty room. ......literally dragging down your result and effort. If you really don't need the storage? A nice long console with some art you love...... a lamp or two. The magic number is 84 to 90 inches as below Male a statement and don't kludge it up : ) Pull in your blues with the art..... If you need the storage? A much longer dresser, free hanging mirror, even a color for the dresser!. Navy Room and Board below - 84 inches The point is make ONE strong visual with 1/2 the fifteen feet........no need to FILL it: )
