I have a similar situation as OP we used Nordic Seal followed by MegaOne finish. We definitely were misinformed about the Nordic Seal applicaiton and did not put on enough sealant the first time around. This left us with some nasty patchy spots here and there. Fortunately the majority of the floor turned out really nice, but we are not very excited aboiut the pictured spots which unfortunately ended up right in the middle of the hallway and super noticable. Our sealant is the white tinted seal. We have tried to lightly scuff the finish and then reapply some white sealant to match the color but we are having a tough time blending it in. The white seems to need a lot to look the same tint and if you overlap any spots where the white is already fine then it keeps getting whiter and you can tell its layered up. Given the cost to rent the machines again, re-doing the entire floor is something we would like to avoid at all costs. I have read the above comments about sanding down to wood, but should we be concerned about potentitally damaging other parts of the floor that area already in good shape? Any advice would be much appreciated! thanks.

Thanks for sharing cac546. Are you saying you can put a Bona sealer down and then put a different Bona sealer over it? Our floor guy called Bona customer service yesterday about a couple of general questions. The ClassicSeal was so light I wanted to know if we could apply two coats ClassicSeal then the Traffic so we atleast better see it. Bona advise against it. Don't know the specifics around why, our guy just shook his head no while on the phone with them. Point of interest with our samples: After looking at different stains, and determining no thank you, we looked at a sample of the Natural and ClassicSeal. We too could barely tell any difference between the two sealers. The Classic had a touch of tint, but it was maybe millimeters difference. Wondering if that would also have been the case with IntenseSeal. And you definitely don't remember any color with IntenseSeal? You're absolutely right about our species of floor being different from each other and the end result. At the end of the day, we love the warm, honey, creamy blonde floors on this maple. We trust any continued feedback.

Floors look great! We did the same thing - 2 coats of bona nordic sealer on red oak…thinking I can see pink come through. Does anyone know if you can apply 3rd coat of nordic or even bona natural? Different light and angles show more pink than others.

Sorry, just saw this. I feel two coats of finish is sufficient when applied over sealer at the prescribed rate. This is especially true for Traffic which goes on heavier (350-400 sq. ft/gallon for Traffic, 500-600 for Mega). More coats of finish make the floor smoother, filling in the grain, and making wear and scratches more evident. If you're in a situation where you need more longevity, you can have more coats applied and live with the consequences. In most residential situations my customers want their floor recoated when it looks bad due to wear and scratches, not when the finish wears through. The surface accumulates the same amount of wear and scratches whether it has 2 coats or 20 coats, at which point it will look a bit shabby and require a recoat.
