Bona NordicSeal vs. NaturalSeal

We are building a house and just had 4" White Oak #1 Common Installed throughout. I love the look of the natural wood currently. Our installer uses Bona Products and we are torn between NordicSeal and NaturalSeal. We will be using Bona Traffic HD on top. Does anyone have any pictures to compare the two? Not sure if we can easily get samples as the lumber & Bona supplier we use is not taking appointments due to COVID-19.

NordicSeal offers a 'whitish' appearance (as in a 'frosted' white). NaturalSeal will allow the look of 'raw wood'. ClassicSeal offers a yellowish tinge (ambers the wood a snick).

If you want a frosted white floor then work with NordicSeal (Nordic = snow = white). If you want the look of raw wood with nothing on it then work with the NaturalSeal.

We used Natural Seal under Traffic HD on our 4” white oak floors and I would say it doesn’t look like raw wood—it definitely looks finished but with a slight whitish tint. I have not tried Nordic Seal so no help there. Here’s a pic—the wood looks a little yellower in real life than in this pic. It has a nice light, natural appearance.

Natural seal will turn a bit golden. That will enhance the look of cinnamon brown. A Red Oak floor does NOT need sealant. Which means you can go straight to the Bona Traffic HD (the expensive stuff) with 3 coats will offer a beautiful 'wheat' coloured floor. The three coats of Traffic will offer the TOUGHEST floor finish possible. Go ahead and pay the up grade price for 3 coats of HD and go without the sealant.

We didn't move in yet so I cannot comment on it 🤷. You might want to do some reading regarding matt finish. Some people complain that is hard to live with finish, because for example foot marks while walking barefoot. I think they are some discussions on houzz regarding that

Gaby what did you end up going with? Hi a have been through one contractor already because he would only put a clear on the floor as a sample why I ran around picking out stain colors! And now I have hired somebody else but he is an available to start till November. So I would love to know what you ended up doing to get the best possible outcome on your red Oak!

Floors look great! We did the same thing - 2 coats of bona nordic sealer on red oak…thinking I can see pink come through. Does anyone know if you can apply 3rd coat of nordic or even bona natural? Different light and angles show more pink than others.

We have newly installed red oak. We want to keep it's natural pale look. We tried the Bona Natural seal but it still does not look like the bare unpolished wood. It seems that the grains are becoming more prominent which I don't like. Currently the grains are very subtle, barely noticed. I also tried the Nordic Seal, but this made the floor hazy and pink.

Nordic seal makes the timber look as it would when raw, espespecially when top coated with bona raw

natural seal will still darken the timber
