throw pillows on white sofa - what combination of patterns and solids?

Any guidelines or opinions regarding whether the larger of two sets of throw pillows should be the pattern or the solid? Attached are a few mock-ups — not to scale. Two throw pillows will be 22” squares, and two will be 20” squares. I’m considering whether the 22” squares should be the pattern, and the 20” squares the solid, or vice versa. I’ll appreciate any thoughts/guidance! I’m trying to bring a bit of blue into the room and so probably am leaning toward the blue solids for now.

I always like the bigger ones to be solid and smaller ones print. I like photo #3 in your examples. You could also try a green or a gold for the solids, as those colors are also present in the print.

From just a visual take I prefer prints in front of solids ( unless the soda itself were a print. ).
I know the scale is off in the mockup , but it looks like too much pillow. Unless your sofa is very deep, two pillows together will not be comfortable for sitting and pillow I’ll have to be tossed off. Plus, it’s overly matchy- match. Maybe search for some sofa/ pillow pics where there are related, but not completely matching, types of blue pillows. I admit this is harder though. Since sofa is all white, I also like for added soft colors to have some of the white. Maybe not so much if color scheme more punchy & graphic.

I agree, a ticking pattern works with prints. I'm determined to buy a PB or LLBean ticking duvet cover this winter (every year I talk myself out of the expense),and I use patterned sheet sets all the time. The photos posted finally show what I have had to imagine in my head.

Thank you Flo. My past rug was larger, maybe a 9x12, so the room can handle it. I do have the 8x10 size ordered...and will give that a try as well. Just to be sure we are on the same page.....when you say 'slide it under long side about 4"', are you referring to the long side of sectional as the section WITHOUT the teal pillows on it or the other section? @blfenton made the suggestion to add a touch of violet with the pillows. With your orange and green, she is headed to a triadic color scheme and one of my favorites. Just in case you wondered if there was any basis to the suggestion. Currently you seem to have an analogous color scheme with orange, gold, and green. Generic, this is a beautiful room, you have great taste, so I'm sure you find the perfect pillows.

So fun! Great sofa and pillows.

Do you have a photo of the floors, walls, rug, windows, drapes, trim, light fixtures ? ...

If you are looking for a vote.. I think the first and no plaid. But, this could change if the space were different. The gold pillows are nice too.
