striped couch with patterned throw pillows?

We're planning to finally buy a new couch. The old one is a floral print that I love, except that it was very difficult to find throw pillows, other than solids, that looked good with it. So this time I was determined to pick a solid fabric -- and while looking at swatches, I have fallen in love with a ticking stripe.

Does anyone have any pictures of striped couches with patterned throw pillows, or any general thoughts on the subject? Should I just plan on someday getting a chair in the stripe, and sticking to a solid for the couch?

Really, a ticking strips is so narrow that it almost acts as a solid. As long as you don't think you will tire of the color of the ticking stripe, you should be able to pair lots of prints with it, as shown by the great examples olychick posted above.

Don't know if you have an IKEA around, but if you do, check out their cushion covers (I think you can also order on line for many of them). They have some amazing choices for a very reasonable price, and their feather pillow stuffers are terrific, again at a good price (they are not down, but fowl feathers, and are a great deal - I have a ton of them). The Alvine Lov pillow is wonderful, all embroidered, and a good size for your couches. I have two of those - shades of yellow, green and a blue-grey. The Urusula could be a perfect neutral for in there, and is 26x26, so a good corner pillow, with something more colorful in front of that if you like. I also like the Benzy Land.

In my opinion it is the pillow in the back (striped) that is blah. I like the textured pillows. How about another pillow in cream or an accent color to go with the textured pillow?

I agree, a ticking pattern works with prints. I'm determined to buy a PB or LLBean ticking duvet cover this winter (every year I talk myself out of the expense),and I use patterned sheet sets all the time. The photos posted finally show what I have had to imagine in my head.

Thank you all! I was kind of thinking a ticking stripe could go with some prints, but I was afraid I was just talking myself into it because I loved the fabric.

Yes, ticking stripe definitely will work with prints. Personally, I would look for patterns with a medium to large scale print and that share a shade of one of colors of the couch. I love that second inspiration from olychick.
