Dry bar cabinet layout

We are installing an ikea cabinet dry bar and I'm hitting a bit of a design issue. Originally the IKEA cabinet person put in a 1.25" filler between two base cabinets. I think this was to get the outer cabinet to line up with the upper. I have no idea why he set the uppers the way he did, but we already put in the sconces so we can't adjust the uppers.

If I omit the filler, there will be a 1" difference between the upper and lower cabinet.

Question is - will that difference be noticeable? I would prefer to have the look of adjacent full face cabinets, so I'd prefer to omit that filler if possible.

Second question: anyone who has used sektion - does the base cabinet (white) show when you use different color doors? We have black doors and I'm worried the cabinet white will show.

What is the actual cabinet style not this weird drawing. I think visually the cabinets should line up but there is no symmetry in this design from the uppers to the lowers and you should not have done the lighting before final design. Now I need to see the space it is usually quite easy to move a light but I have no real idea of what you are working with . If perfect symmetry was the plan then why did you not center the fridge ?

How long are you planning on owning your house? Personally, in this case, if the answer is > 1y, I'd go for it. You're going to cap off the water and drain, not jack it out of the slab. Any new owners between now and infinity can put a sink back in if they want. Oh, and then that new person's husband will balk because he thinks that some new new owner would rather have more storage space than a sink. Woah.

Wilson , thanks I love the idea of replacing the wine rack with shelves. Anna- I think you’re right. It’s a small job, so he had to make the price worth it for him. I’m definitely planning on getting more quotes! Thinkdesignlive- I want to paint the cabinets iron mountain by Benjamin Moore To match the island in the kitchen (kitchen has white perimeter cabinets and iron mountain island). If vents and window are staying, you don't have much choice for storage areas--3' on each side of window? Does the 7' measurement include the window trim? The measurements for the 11' wall don't add up, unless you are not including the section with the wall vent.--2'6" plus 4'1" plus 3'2" = 9'9". Here is my original suggestion for pantry and mudroom storage but with a window seat and some extra storage squeezed in. The vent on the hall wall will need to be relocated, but you are considering removing that wall, so I'm assuming you have a plan for the ducting:

I never said I wanted symmetry. We had a cabinet plan that I thought was final until I started looking at it and realized our cabinet designer was an idiot. Lesson learned. Didn't trust anyone to know what they're doing.

I had to make a decision yesterday as they were hanging cabinets and I decided to omit the filler. The edge of upper cabinet will line up with the counter, which is fine.

We removed the filler and set the cabinets. Turns out they had misplaced one of the sconces anyway so they had to move the light. Outer cabinet & lower now align.
