Exterior Paint Help

I am really struggling with picking a paint color for the window trim/shutters on my home. The house is beige/cream (which I don’t love to begin with), and we are trying to decide if a different trim color will help, or if we should just paint the whole house. Any suggestions are very welcome!

If 'trim' includes the white garage door and wall YES!

Shutters are available in only so many colors so start with them and select a trim color accordingly.

What sticks out to me is the WHITE foundation. I would paint that a buff or grey that looks like concrete. This will ground the house. Then you need some landscaping- trees and shrubs. The house itself is fine.

I would do a red or blue front door and a garage door the same color as the siding. A garage door is not intended to be a show piece in my opinion. No to frosted glass on the garage door either. Landscaping could use some thinning out and cutting back as well from the looks of this picture.

Unfortunately the windows were replaced with inexpensive vinyl. What is missing is muntins. Are there any holes around the frame which would let you add some for this effect? Choosing one color, for trim and any siding, will mask the vinyl look, work with the stone and bring back to life some Craftsman feel. So, I'm with you on a camel paint color...and do it all in one color. This is B.M. Camel Hair. It is a CSP color 285. You could give it a try.

Any color that isn't light will look sharp with white or cream trim. If you want a more monotone look, I'd have the trim be a different shade of the same color. If you paint a dark green, then the trim could be the same color with 50% or 75% more white. If you paint a medium-ish color, the trim could be the same shade just darker.

Thanks for the input - would you paint the white a neutral color/something similar to the house color? Or would you go with a dark contrasting color?

Either one. I wouldn’t match the house color exactly- maybe a shade or two darker. Honestly I would focus on getting a pleasant buff or grey that looks like concrete since it is also the garage and retaining wall. It will ground the house and be easier to keep clean.
