Anyone have an MR direct faucet? Feedback on other brands desired
Comments (0)Hi everyone. I need to buy a new faucet, and I did a search of this forum for "faucets" to get ideas and feedback about various ones. In one old post was a link to MR Direct for their sinks. However, when I went there, I discovered a faucet of theirs that I loved that was only $126! Has anyone ever used their faucets? COuld you give us some feedback, please? I am looking for a traditionally styled, pull-down, goose-neck faucet, in stainless or brushed nickel, with an integral side lever. It also has to be under $300 (and that is really pushing it--I really would like to keep it unde $250). Other brands I am considering that are smaller and not as well known are Kraus and Vigo. Does anyone have one of these that they'd like to give feedback on? I need to stay under $300 or so, I need to stay away from Grohe and those expensive brands. As far as the big-box store brands go, I like some of the Moen styles that are traditional, like the Annabelle or Landcaster, but they have a low-flo water saving device, which I do not need (I'm on a well in wet and soggy Maryland) and am concerned about not having enough force of water spray to clean well, since my water pressure is already low. I would love feedback on those from any who have one. I also liked the looks of the Price Pfister Hanover, but read many negative reviews about that on various retailer websties. Anyone here have one that they care to comment about? Would you recommend it? I like some things about Delta (my last faucet was one)--but not their lever--which does not allow you to maintain the water temp when you turn it on and off, and can be tricky sometimes to find just the right spot to turn the thing off. so I am ruling them out for now. Any other brands I should consider? Thanks in advance for any help....See MoreIs vinyl flooring REALLY used in high end houses?
Comments (49)Your worry is about leaks in the pipes that damage any wood floors. So, get a whole house leak detector and get the hardwood - engineered or otherwise. I just ordered this: https://www.phyn.com/product/ . The other one that is highly recommended is Flo by Moen. They detect leaks through pressure changes and typical water usage. Also under the dishwasher put a dishwasher drip pan and buy a dishwasher that has a water shut off if it detects a leak. The drip pan channels the water to the front of the DW so that you will see the water before damage is done. https://www.amazon.com/Eastman-EZF70486-70486-Dishwasher-Black/dp/B00WQRKDNY/ref=asc_df_B00WQRKDNY/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167125770928&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2371089925326721163&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032027&hvtargid=pla-312054148738&psc=1 I just installed 1700 sq ft of engineered flooring and I don't want to do it again due to water leaks. So I am doing the above. If there was a pan for the refrigerator, I would put one there too. But, the leak detector should solve most of my worries. I live in East Bay and houses move and I was told that engineered wood can tolerate that better than hardwood. In the laundry I installed vinyl planks which I have to say, I really love as it is super easy to clean up, no worries about water damage. It is a gray plank and weirdly I have gotten compliments from neighbors thinking it was "real wood"......See MoreHave granite! need your help with lighting- hardware etc etc
Comments (14)(Oh you changed your name)-- Ok so currently there is a flush light and minimal recessed lighting ( I think 2) in the whole area. We are demo-ing and will shift locations of some of the cabinets and appliances and sink. The work estimate agreement is for all of that. So, I did say I thought I would likely put some (2 probably ) pendants over the island but was not certain. We will have like 8 recessed lights if I recall correctly, an dI thought the lighting over the island would be nice as a design point but I am not sold to that. This is my long way of saying that they are prepared to add what needs to be done and it's not a big issue. I agree that it feels the costco pendant would be too massive. I am beginning to wonder if I should just leave the recessed lighting and not add a fixture over the island. We were supposed to get the cabinets this week and then work could start next week. Luckily we did not have any demo start. Appliances are ordered and in stock, the counter is ordered and in stock, basically awaiting deliveries on all. With everything going on , I am not certain what will happen. I would like to have everything planned out so that if when the cabinets come I am ready with everything. Regarding the hardware, I do understand that those are beautiful quality and well worth the $. Thank you for posting the pix That said, though, in my last kitchen I went with a much less $ version (I tested them out and had them compared to the $$ version ) and I swear I saw no difference. I used them for about 10 years before we sold, and they were totally fine. That 's my long way of saying I am liking the look fo the satin/brushed brass or gold. I don't need the solid brass. I would consider black or orb, but I don't think that would do well with the island which is darker. I really can't get out to look in stores. In normal times, there are very few that have inventory to see, and I was a very big online shopper for house stuff for that reason. Now, there is no way I am going to browse in the city and look for lighting stores Not even sure they are open with our non -essential retail closed.:)...See MoreTalk to me about engineered hardwood on a concrete slab
Comments (14)You have two different issues here. A slab needs to have a vapor barrier or roll on waterproof membrane to keep moisture from the slab effecting the floor you choose. This keeps moisture from damaging the core of the floor. The second issue is waterproof flooring itself. LVT is waterproof as leaving it in water does not effect any part of it. Some doors are waterproof on the top only and the lock system keeps the water from effecting the core material. Waterproof flooring came about because people like to mop their floors and click together floors get ruined when people mop them and water gets between the boards if they dont have a water tight locking system. Floor and Decor sells a waterproof engineered floor that is actually pretty nice for the money....See MoreKathsgrdn
