bathroom vanity help (single to double vanity)
Comments (5)- thanks for the reply pricklypearcactus. sadly with the area im in the local plumbing and bathroom shops all suck. ive visited more than a few with an attempt to get names of manufaturers and some literature on products but none was available. (on the flipside when i visited a few local lighting stores i was given all the information i could carry). - even still, id have figured even if someone didnt have the answer to my specific question they'd atleast have insight on the Lacava (or Paini) Brands. - i was leaning towards thinking ive probably done all the research and thats pretty much why no one is responding.......it's just be nice to get a reply or two to know for sure....See MoreMaster bathroom help-crosspost from bathroom forum
Comments (19)olychick, thank you for taking a look. :) I'm relieved to hear you think a white shower pan is best. I am heading out now to find porcelain marble look tiles for the shower walls to pick up the gray as you suggested. I want a shiny finish to the walls. Tell me if you think that's a misstep. I am avoiding marble as I have a marble topped vanity now that is pock marked with etchings. As far as seeing myself in the vanity, yes, I think I will be able to do so. I was planning on a black framed mirror spanning the vanity. My current vanity is 32 1/4" high (as will be the new vanity) and when seated on my vanity stool my reflection is seen up to my chest. The only issue currently is that my knees are pressed against drawers. I failed to mention that I was thinking of using absolute black granite for the vanity top for two reasons: one being cost and the other being to avoid etching. Will doing so deviate too much from my inspiration? Lastly, I had the idea of applying pieces of beveled mirror framed by black molding floor to ceiling along the back wall and continuing behind the toilet (similar to this only floor to ceiling with the exception of base molding & crown): [Traditional Bathroom[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2107) by Northbrook Architects & Building Designers Michael A. Comments (1)We have redone 4 bathrooms in 3 houses in the last few years and my advice is to go to a local counter top store and look at more options. We found a local place that makes vanity tops in several more options and higher quality than the box stores and they add the sink you want and drill the holes. It was cheaper and we got a way nicer top. We did one from HD because it’s what the MIL wanted. We found it was way thinner material and was not as nice my hubby and I hated it....See MoreBathroom vanity tops and MDF bathroom vanities.
Comments (5)Millworkman, I think I must have read somewhere that you shouldn't use granite on MDF cabinets Patricia Colwell Consulting, the vanity does not come with a top. It was just shown with a top. The Hayneedle website description said it was just the cabinet and it is just the cabinet (arrived this past Friday). Siamesey, I hear ya but since I spent a ton of money converting the tub to shower, I have to save where I can. Unfortunately, when you combine the needs of my mother (the main user of this bathroom), the style that I would like, along with the need to work around the plumbing location, I actually don't have a lot of choices. It's been really hard to combine the first two of those and find a vanity with drawers on the left hand side (the plumbing dictate). I looked at custom made and even semi custom made and no, I can't do that. Even though the vanity is made of MDF and is RTA, to me it has better quality than some of low end all wood vanities that I've seen. Also, most of the cabinets I've looked at still seem to have MDF in them somewhere, especially white cabinets which is what I wanted for this bathroom....See Moreci_lantro
