What rug and pillow colors will lighten up my gray couch?!

We’re doing a home remodel.

Walls will be BM Seapearl.

Floors will be refinished pale/light.

Fireplace is as pictured below.

We’ll need to keep our gray couch for the time being. I’d like to replace the rug and the pillows to make it feel “less gray”. What am I looking for in a rug? What colors for the rug and pillows?

I would change out the pillows on the sofa (or at least add a pillow) that has a print with some of the blue you want to incorporate into the room. I would do a lighter gray on the walls in the living room with a darker version of the blue on the accent wall, then I'd carry the lighter blue into the kitchen. I love yellow but I would only use it for accents on fabrics or art because its hard to find a yellow wall color like the one in your pillows that works well on walls. It is usually either too stark or too bright.

so the couch DEF will not work by the window, its too big and blocks the entry. In the middle of the room it looks bad and blocks the entry to the kitchen... I am going to have to keep it where it is and work with that. I grabbed some art work from other areas of the house (not permanent) and put it up just to get a feel and moved the tanks. here are the pics. I figured out how to sorta do panaramic lol so the pics look off a bit n rounded but I was trying to get u a better idea of the living room layout. I decided I probably need a different couch, but that in the future lol workin with what I have now.

Ok. No problem. Just measure your space carefully and do a scale layout to see if the pieces you select will really fit properly. The room seems like there is a step down into it? Measure that. That is a spot you will need to watch for fall protection.

I’d browse for art that you love, then select pillows and a rug to complement it. I think you need more color and contrast for a more inviting look.

BM Seapearl can look quite yellow, so make sure you test.

You can go off in many directions.A multi colored rug with just a bit of gray.

Or, just wait until you ready to change out the gray sofa.

These two rugs are other possible directions. I like the brown pillows that reference the color of your wood trim.
