Design Dilemma living room

What should I do with this corner?

We’ve tried chairs, storage pieces, etc. but nothing looks quite right. awkward orientation to TV, farther away from sofa on the wall across from the TV, and the front door is right across from this corner. my current thought is a chaise lounge but could use other ideas!

It's definitely not necessary for every space to be filled. Careful editing in a space makes for good design. You've already got an eye-catching arch, contrasting baseboards, eleven framed pieces of art in different sizes with a variety of frame/mat styles and colors, and two side by side furniture pieces (one metal/glass and one wood with textured baskets) making up an AV area. You don't need to fill it further with a chaise especially since the front door opens to this space.

By a guy I mean a licenced guy, no worries here. Any help with the questions? Let me organize my first post. Preferences - bright white (not necessary) - like the way spot lights reflect on the back splash - wiring is already there so I donÂt need any kits. - do not want to do the under cabinet trim to hide lights - need slim model or something that hides will because I wont be doing the thim. - prefer to dim, do LEDÂs not dim? Questions: 1)Where should I put them, I would imagine one for each cabinet but should I do two for the larger cabinets (like the one by the new refrigerator? 2)What should I do about the corner units? Should I just center a spot light or get one of those bars and angle it? 3)Of course, what type. Thanks for the help!!

Yikes! Ok… well, we already planned and paid for this as a temporary fix until we knock out the walls and move the kitchen out. We have plans for huge renovation but had to hold off. Mom has leukemia and wished for us to have a nice simple (not so simple:) remodel that she could see to the end. We are halfway there but struggling with paint. We have a project manager and GC he manages but unfortunately design suggestions are minimal. I’ll keep searching and it feels ok knowing it will look better than it does (I’m over the pine) and it will be short(ish) term. We have all new appliances going in also. Just thought of painting rather than new cabinets

if you really are considering painting the fireplace surround wood [I wouldnt ] a white , then I'd add to the frame around the mirror in the same white or something else that blends....search for a vintage or stylish frame or have one made and adhere it .. create more bulk and style around the mirror in other words ..... and somehow put a ledge and place things in front of mirror. good decorating spot. mirror just needs thick stylish frame and use that good spot in the corner like that.......perfect to gussy it up. it doesnt need to be ripped off. is there a ledge? cant tell..you can insert a deeper one anyway to use for decor. the two walls meeting forming a corner furthur back would look worse .

Hi Maureen! Oh dear lol! The dreaded dark corner by the t v! No need to fear it, though, especially for the art lover. I spy a lovely collection of pictures. I also spy a near perfect vintage bureau in the next room, and a classic marble top side table. Nice!

Before I launch into placement lol! Just a first consideration: Will this corner be the first thing visitors see upon entering you home? If so, how would to like to set the tone for first impression? The pieces I noticed might pull together to create a beautiful, vintage feel, tv gallery wall!

One rule of thumb in creating decor impressions is as follows! The height of the highest object on the wall will be the focal point of the room. Here, if the entryway does not include a view of the corner, you may pull height to it by choosing a unique shelf or lamp, or a reading nook with a vintage chaise and bright pillows! Nice!

My suggestion is to balance all elements across the entire wall, with a gallery of your art behind the tv. The highest picture will create the centerpoint of the wall. Decorate toward the centerpoint, from both corners, with any emphasis you choose—from classic symmetry or an eclectic look! Switch the

dining room? bureau and the tv console, take a trip to thrift (yes, it’s my downfall lol!) and find matching lamps, vintage chair and a reading lamp. Of course, some great picture frames!

I’ll put up a few inspiration ideas photos photos, but i hope you try lots of things, and just have fun! ❤️

I agree with tlynn’s comments. Having some open space can be calming and nice. You might consider a plant in the corner. This is just me (who’s more of a minimalist!), but I‘d move the 3 frames and mirror on the wall to the left of the corner if I added a plant. Just curious…is the vent I see by the little round table functioning?
