Making scrappy stars

I'm busy making scrappy stars for a Bonjour pattern called Star Sweep. It's fun, but I'm having trouble getting the intersections to line up properly. Fifteen down; 48 to go.

Lois, Those really are scrappy stars. A good way to use a lot of leftover fabric, eh? At least 63, or 126????? I don't think I've seen that pattern before. Have fun aligning your stars. No telling what it will bring you. :-)

Very nice pattern. One, I would guess, where you have to be very precise in your sewing to get everything to line up perfectly.

I think I commented in a very early posting about a program here in Canada many years ago , which featured an experienced dressmaker, Madame de Bella, whose mantra was ”precision, precision, precision,” in cutting and sewing. I always think of her as I am Bumbling along.

Energy Star may not mean much, according to recent reports. See the link below. Looks like machines are not tested but just registered with the agency. Sears and LG were caught selling appliances that did not meet the standard and they may not be alone. Sharon I would love to see pics lol!!!!!! I have given up trying to get my sewing room presentable, I just close the door. When I was a single parent for 20 years my son's friends said I had the cleanest house in the neighborhood, except for his room of course lol! Now I realize I was just stressed and cleaning was my outlet. I',m so over it! I keep my machines clean and dust free, but my house definitely looks lived in. I just try to make sure the bathrooms and kitchen are clean. And I do make my bed every day. Right now the towels I just washed are on the bed to fold and put away, I have tomatoes and onions on the kitchen table, and I really need to clean the shelves in the fridge. Except for putting away the towels (so I can sleep on the bed lol)I am positive everything else will be waiting for me tomorrow!!!!!!!! We have had temps 110 with the heat index and it has really made me lazy. Rosa

When you make a scrappy binding...

Very often I stitch a plain binding to the back on my machine and then machine stitch it down on the front, but I would finish by hand on the back for a scrappy binding, so this is an interesting question. I just use any color thread I think generally goes with the scraps in the binding. I don't do anything special other than making the stitches small and even. If they show, they show!

I do like the pattern, too. I wonder if your stars will align when you actually start sewing them together - a little tug here and there!

Sharon, it’s so good to have you back on the forum again. Sorry you’re struggling with Covid. I finally got it about a month ago, but it was a very mild case. One day of headaches and about four days of low energy.
