I'm doing plain, cheap, white solid surface. My fabricator has a non-Corian line that the color worked okay -- mine is a fairly large folding area and I'd rather spend my money where I'll enjoy it more!! I figured this will be easy to clean and nice and smooth. Arlene

I think white would be a nice contrast. I've attached a link to a GW member's (kellienoelle) kitchen that used Delicatus granite & a classic white backsplash. for the handles, may I suggest something to pick up on the hues in the flooring? A little more copper toned. you have light cabs, light floors. I think throwing in a dark ORB w/o actual copper highlights would be too much of a contrast. IMO. cypress park Sandra, I like the porcelain one better than the other one. Does the backsplash have to be done immediately? If the tones in the porcelain tile you picked clash w/the ivory tones in the counter, it could be a problem. However, I did find some copper toned ones that should be avail. these are porcelain/SS, and treated so as not to stain or tarnish. I LOVE these for your kitchen. timeless and gorgeous. I agree with @functionthenlook - with so many others using your kitchen maybe Formica is the one! It’s served you well & you may be pleasantly surprised at what today’s Formica looks like vs 30 years ago. That said, there are advantages to man made materials. The one constant caution is do not take pans from oven or stove top & set them on the surfaces but that’s same for Formica. The resins in Corian & quartz may yellow or burn. Corian is repairable, Quartz is not. Both are non porous. Granite is tough & won’t discolor from heat but not advisable to set hot stuff on it either - thermal shock. Bottom line is trivets should always be used no matter the surface & knife cutting should never be done on any counter surface. Not good for counter will /may cut & certainly not good for the knife ETA - all of the counter materials come in light colors & white.. Maybe price should factor in your decision.
