Living Room Furniture Placement Dilemma
Comments (7)The focal point of a family room is always the fireplace/TV, and that sets the stage for how the furniture should be configured. So in your case, I would move the TV to the wall that has the fireplace. I would get two pieces of matching wood furniture cabinets to go on either side of the fireplace, and then hang the TV over one of them. Then pull your couch into the center of the room facing that focal point wall you just created. Then get two accents chairs to complete the seating configuration. And then you need a larger coffee table. Start with that....See MoreLiving room/dining room furniture placement help.
Comments (12)I moved some things around and I think I like it better. I know the rug is too small and it shouldn't be "floating" but I don't want a new one until we get the other changes done. I moved the dresser into the dining room and hung (probably too high but couldn't convince 6'3" hubby to lower it and he had a point about being out of reach of the tornado. haha) the sign and pictures that had been on the mantle in the dining room. We also took off the ridiculous trim board they had up because we will be replacing the slider soon. So many things in this house like that silliness. I organized most of the books and moved the bookshelf. And grabbed a few canvases (I know they are small but can't remember where we left my big one) I did the flower, my dad painted the one on the right in Vietnam in '68. We need to fix the coffee table my dad built that's in the garage, I'll put it in front of the sofa, it's a little under 6'long, so it might be technically too big but, again, it's what I have. How'd I do?...See MoreToo many living room focal points!
Comments (10)I think you are very much on the right track with your current layout, I would make a few tweeks, place the tv on the wall opposite the fireplace, similar to where you have it but not an angle, put it on a long console that will take up most of the space on that wall, console if possible be floating or open at the bottom, something like the pics below. keep sofa where it's at and then add a couple swivel chairs where you have the current chairs and then possible a couple more smaller size chairs flanking the fireplace, add a narrow rectangular coffee table, some side tables and lighting....See MoreHelp!
