Funny, funkyart, my house is a 1960's colonial...but I always wanted that old farmhouse. So we ripped out all (ALL) the wimpy moulding and baseboards throughout the house and replaced it with wide/substantial trim, Added hardwood throughout, and did everything we could to revamp the style. It's more of a colonial revival look throughout---with schoolhouse pendants, pedestal sink in the 1/2 bath etc. I bet you could make this work in your room too! I will post some pictures of the inside of the closet tonight so you can get a better idea of how big, and the layout etc. Pretty much, it is a wide reach-in. Not quite walk in closet, although it is big enough to walk into etc. just not to hang clothing on both sides. The entire closet is open, but closed off by the 3 sets of doors. 2 sets of the doors hold my clothes, and dh has one. Shoe cubbies fit on both ends (which may be may favorite part of the whole thing---Dh built them to fit shoes and purses.) The closet system is from Lowes, and I highly recommend it. You can customize it however you like and it really looks more $ than it is. We had priced out California Closets, and their bottom of the line style was almost triple the cost of these... and these are much nicer looking. If you can DIY, they are the way to go. Beautiful job! TREKaren, time to put "hangers" on your Christmas list! Or, pick a style you like that will be around for a little while, and buy yourself a batch every now and then--as a reward, or for your birthday. What a great job. And LOOK LOOK LOOK! A big stretch of empty shelf! (wanna suggestion? You know I always have them. Get at least one more, but even better two more, sweater shelves. So you can have shorter stacks. Esp. w/ those shelves, the shelf itself doesn't take up that much room. But I bet it'll be easier to maneuver your clothes, and you'll be more likely to wear the clothes at the bottom of the stack. AND get another shelf to go under that short one in the bottom picture.) As always, I'll spend your money for you, LOL! And how neat to know that Elfa has the rods now--sounds like they listened to some customer feedback! I have this wacky closet that's long and skinny, and I keep meaning to go to the Container Store or Easy Closets and get a plan from them. But, we're supposed to be moving now, so it seems an unfruitful diversion of energy. But I have vowed, wherever we end up, I want to get a good set of infrastructure in there. (And Elfa seems like it would be flexible--you could shift things around without starting completely over)

I think anything over 31 inches is too high for the bedroom lamp. I think 29-30 inches is just right, but it could be a little chunkier like the ones in the furniture ad. What you have on the end tables are pretty but they disappear because they are too skinny and you see thru the glass. I love the 30" lamp and like the 32" inch but the 32 might be too tall...not sure. I keep looking back at the sofa....unless there is more space we do not see, I think its just not the right size for the room, regardless of the fabric. If you do not have another place for it, I would see if you can exchange it. I would rather see a triple dresser or armoir on that wall:) with a smaller club style chair and ottoman or chaise in the corner. Someone mentioned turning it around and putting up a flat screen....I dont think its possible, it would be like sitting in the first row of a movie theater...you only have a foot or so of space between it and the bed. The bench is another alternative but not something you are going to hang out on. If you add the matching triple dresser you wouldnt have room for a bench. You are heading in the right direction...the bed set, curtains and wall color look awesome.

My standing joke is that I've never lived with a guy, as defined above where guy=leaving things dropped or placed in wrong spots all over the house. I married a man who is neat as a pin which is a mixed blessing for someone who is also neat as a pin, because our children grew up in a bizarrely tidy and organized home. Have never seen him even leave a sock out, much less all the stuff in these pictures :). Actually it made the shock that much greater when I gave birth to a darling male child who grew into a guy! My daughter still laughs about how I always, every-single-time, made him pick up the shoes he tried to leave next to the back door and take them into his room-and where he got that idea I cannot fathom since he NEVER saw any one else do it. He lives with his fiancée now who says he is indeed a clothes dropper. She told me he can open the front door in full uniform (he's a law enforcement officer with the NPS) and in less than 30 seconds be in the kitchen which is ~ 30 feet away wearing only his boxers LOL.
