help me with rug choice for new family room
Comments (34)OK, not pushing grey -- just don't want you to settle on something you don't like for such a large part of your room. The sectional we've had for about 13 years now is close to the color of that first close up. It is a very liveable color and goes well with blues and greens. Do look at the type of leather too. That RH sofa appears to be that kind (can't remember what they call it) that will start out looking distressed and just get more so. It will show every mark from kids and dogs - that's the look, so you have to embrace it. See how the cushion sides are already more crinkled than the sofa back? Kind of like having marble counters -- know you will live with patina and not perfection. That will work in your room, but you said you didn't like rustic so much so thought I should mention that. I like the idea of the mossy green. You don't see green leather often, so it definitely wouldn't be cookie cutter....See MoreHelp! Need some ideas for an area rug in apartment!
Comments (10)You have a very inviting home. I would advise a rug with more color than what I see so far in your decor to avoid an all-greige look. After years of gray the modern trend now is toward more color, but a lot depends on your personal style I'm rather curious what the rolled-up carpet looks like. Try looking at traditional and transitional rugs on esale.com, a company that will allow you to return rugs without cost. e-bay also has a good selection of rugs. Since your furniture has solid colors I would investigate rugs with a pattern and different colors to bring some complexity and interest to your scheme. You can then repeat some of the colors in pillows. The pillows you show are rather drab and colors such as blue, terra cotta and leaf green would look lovely....See MoreWould love some HELP! Comments (19)I actually like that better (with a rug!) Blocking a doorway is never a good idea. adding a few chairs like that is also nice try a larger artwork piece over back of sofa (hung 4-6" from the sofa!) like this something like this. and maybe a new fan. Then take your 4 pieces and group them in a square on that other wall. make sure to hang them at the right height side table, little lamp a neutral jute rug to anchor everything world market has this one maybe one of their chairs?...See Morefamily room area rug advice
Comments (11)You have a lovely room, very neutral. I love the idea of a cowhide in the sitting area and something textural, like flokati in the sectional area. Agree to stay away from grey, but any other neutral color would look great. I also like many of your choices, but would probably stay on the lighter side vs dark. Where are windows in the room?...See MoreS M
