Exterior Paint Ideas for SmAll SoCal Beach Home
Comments (0)We live 6 blocks from the beach in a small SoCal town and are finally getting around to painting the original exterior from when we first bought our house! Any advice on exterior colors would be appreciated. Going for a laid back, beach style look. Thank you in advance!...See MoreExterior paint colors for a small house
Comments (10)Hi Sylvia, Thanks for your input. That's a good call on the snow cone stand. I definitely don't want that! The shutters are actually a deep navy. They come across a bit brighter in the picture. I was also thinking about maybe a softer white. I am afraid it's going to be too bright if I match the trim, plus, it would show dirt and grime much more. If anyone is knowledgable in paint color and has an idea of a less intense white (maybe with an underlying grey hue?), I am open to any suggestions. I am terrible at picking out stuff. As for asking my mother-in-law, I have learned the hard way on that one. If she had her way, the entire house would be wall to wall flowered wallpaper. I am trying to balance her traditional (said another way, very outdated) tastes with what will ultimately sell. We purchased this home for her to live in while she is able to live on her own, but once she moves out, we plan to quickly sell it....See MoreNeed lake house exterior ideas! paint color? deck updates? landscapes?

Comments (9)I think you need two colors due to the half-timbering bit. But they can be very similar like the ones up there now are similar (or maybe they're even the same). The stucco in the front peak, shingles in the back peak, and maybe the eaves would work as a slightly lighter version of the main color. Not for contrast, but for depth. I like the slatey blue greens. Might even be able to go a bit towards purpley. Do get big sample boards. Huge ones. Bigger than the ones I used to pick my last house color. :)...See MoreSigrid
