Ideas for exterior paint color - brick house

last year

We've inherited this yellow exterior but are planning on getting it repainted next week. any ideas on what colors would look good and go with the brick? We like gray/blue tones but are not sure about colors that work. There is the wood trim all around as well as the addition at the back. Should we go with all the same color or try to have a couple of tones? thanks!

What color is your roof. That doesnt show in the pictures. The close up of the brick, shows a few nice shades of gray, but, need to know about the roof first.

I think your home is beautiful! I would go with a dark gray that matches the rock and I would paint the brick enclosure to match as well, a shade darker or lighter. Trim would be pretty bright white. I just love grays though. Maybe keep the red door or change to black. You have lots of options. :)

The roof is black? Pull out a dark gray from the brick. From the brick--not just any gray.

The roof is dark-gray (owens corning duration estate gray) see photo below.

We're thinking of a lighter color than dark gray or dark blue. Any thoughts on lighter gray/blue colors that would go with the brick? Also, is it worth getting different colors for different parts (window/door trim vs gutters and downspouts vs additions in the back)?

You could do a lighter tone of the state blue @Jilly recommended. Lots of brick houses around here have faded slate blue.

I think you need two colors due to the half-timbering bit. But they can be very similar like the ones up there now are similar (or maybe they're even the same). The stucco in the front peak, shingles in the back peak, and maybe the eaves would work as a slightly lighter version of the main color. Not for contrast, but for depth.

I like the slatey blue greens. Might even be able to go a bit towards purpley. Do get big sample boards. Huge ones. Bigger than the ones I used to pick my last house color. :)

Thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions. We've (I think) narrowed it to two colors: SW Storm Cloud and SW Granite Peak. @fori I like your idea of two-toning for depth and the half timbering. What do you all think of using these two colors? Ideas on where to use each?

As has already been said - Jinx nailed it. Its a nice balance of fresh and new, yet still historically accurate. Blue green and red-orange are opposite on the color wheel, so both colors come alive in a way that black + red doesnt Your blue-grays are kinda the same idea, but in a more muted kind of way.... which actually might be a good idea if your addition siding is going to be the same color.
