Dining Room Rug Ideas

I just purchased a white and grey marble table from Arhaus. Top is white marble, base is ebony wood. We are currently painting the dining room grey and My new light fixture will be gold. We are thinking we want to purchase an area rug to go under the table. Any recommendations on color?

I feel Iike I need a pop of color due to the white, grey & gold. Need recommendations on color of rug???

Is this your table, or can you provide a picture. What are your chairs like and do you have any other furniture, as suggesting a color with only knowing the walls will be grey (light - dark?) isn’t enough information. Are you looking at a solid or patterned with a few colors? Provide as much information as you can and pictures of room.

We are currently painting the dining room grey

lol. do you know how many 'gray' paint colors there are?

light gray? warm gray? dark gray? blue-gray? green-gray? etc

My new light fixture will be gold.

Ditto 'gold'. modern? crystal? dark/champagne gold? style?

You want us to recommend a rug/color, but we have no idea what the room looks like, other than vague "gray and gold" base colors . What's the flooring?

Does this room border other rooms/furniture?

how big is the rug in order to fit the table and the chairs (what color chairs?)

Is this the arhaus table? 60" ? 48" ? 39" ?

so you want the rug to fit this? or some othe size like the rectangle?

if you're doing a cooler gray, this one could work, (unless you want a round rug)

or I like the ideas of a flat weave layered w/a hide rug

but again, have no idea if these would work in your space

it would make our work easier if you posted a picture of the actual room where this rug is going, picture of the light, and the name of the wall color you're using, or else it's a shot in the dark for the color choices.

Hello Hillari Lube , You have a lot going on in a tiny space! AND you say the word, 'wonky,' like I do - you from New York by any chance? Anyway - the big piece that neither of us seem thrilled with - would that fit rotated to the wall immediately to it's right? It would make it less of a focal point and with a nice desk, small shelf and a painting above where it is now - you have a much more functional space & hopefully something that takes the eye away from the big piece... From there it seems console table or small bookcase the L side of the couch would set up something that defines a small circular table for a dining area. Hope that helps. Thanks for all the advice! I think I am on the side of getting a rug. The more time I have spent looking at the room today has made it more obvious. Thanks for the pictures Beth, super helpful! I am an extremely particular person, especially when it come to rugs haha (I spent 3 or 4 weeks constantly/obsessively searching for the one in our living room). It is nice to have a jumping off point. Let the search begin... I have a black rectangular planter coming that I was planning on placing on the table and planting some low succulents in (picture). I thought that the table needed something black on it to pull in the light fixture more effectively. I was also planning on putting large plant in the corner. I'm not sure what type of art to put on the wall under the window. The window placement is...awkward. I wonder if a live/moss planting would work? There will be more mini projects and questions that come up for this main area as we move through it. We have most of the major pieces but are missing a lot of the smaller elements to tie it all together.

I would consider going with an abstract-design rug that is mainly white/gray/gold and bring in the pop of color with the chairs and/or art.

Hard for us to judge how much color you like! Do you have art that might serve as an inspiration? With your neutrals, there are many directions to go, from just a little color to quite a bit!
