Need rug ideas for dining room

I've been spending countless hours on the internet searching ideas for an area rug for my dining room. The color on the walls is BM Electric Slide and I have turquoise accessories. (Please disregard the sofa behind the table as we were painting the living room when I took it).

I don't know what/if you're looking for other colors in the rug, but thought this was beautiful w/your turquoise color.

Nor do I know your budget. Rugman.com has been used by a lot of forum members here as well as other forums i've been on. I would consider it a reputable site, though am *not* affiliated in any way, shape, or form. ;o)

I would try a site like Overstock.com, depending on your budget, they have fairly reasonable rugs, and many choices to pick from.

I guess I should have mentioned there's a fireplace on the all brick wall of the living room on the far side of the living room, and the current entrance has a partial (3/4 height) wall/bookcase to separate it from the family room.

congrats on your new condo! she is lovely in and out. Well, I am sure we could help you make the inside look more like the outside. but i have to say the inside looks just like newly built houses. so that is more your choice i think. and perhaps you just want to use what you have and add a few pieces that will give you more of the look you want, but it does not have to match the exterior. you mentioned a lot of pics from around the world, I am guessing you want to know how to use. I have collected some idea. the one thing that is universal is using the same color frames. you can use varied but you have to have more skills to make it work.in a black frameanother external frame main subject in center bits of subject around.this is a set of family pics in a format.

@beverlyFLADeziner, thank you so much for your thoughtful advice. I agree, chandelier definitely needs to go. It doesn’t fit the space and not our style anymore. I should move the small wooden round over the sideboard.. and add bigger art to the wall as you suggested. Our style is mostly clean lines and simple. Is it okay to have one style of lighting in the dining room and another style in the rest of the downstairs living area?

J Castellanos - Sorry, you didn't deserve that in your thread. It's just that these Houzz "pros" are supposed to know not to pop into a thread with the sole intent of advertising their own products, and that is what the aforementioned "pro" does repeatedly. It's tiresome. Now, regarding your decorating issues ... What is on the wall across from the sectional? I see you've got your TV and console set up on the one wall, but wonder if you could move to the wall opposite the sofa and then "flip" the sofa around so that it's open to the fireplace? As it is now, it doesn't look like the fireplace gets much enjoyment by those seated on the sectional. I'm thinking that if you could rearrange things a bit, you might have space for a desk behind the sofa on the wall where the TV is now. I would not move the dining set into the living room, as that will cramp the space.

Thank you for the quick responses. I've been to RugsUSA and O.co and many others but what I'm struggling with is should I do a solid color or a print.

I think something traditional would look the best like the one below. It's an Ooshak and they're very forgiving of dust and any crumbs. They always look good, I've purchased from this dealer and been very happy. You can look through their other rugs.

Since everything else is a solid in your room, I'd go for a print.
