Keep or replace solid wood kitchen cabinets in 1950s cottage?

Partner and I are first-time owners of a 1950s cottage in the south. We've unfortunately just discovered some long-standing mold growth in the ceiling and walls of the kitchen that we need to address. And while we're at it, we'd probably want to fix some cracks in the outside walls caused by house settling. (We'll leave the story of how we were deceived by the seller about these problems to another day.)

We're looking for advice on what (if anything) we can do with the cabinets. The cabinets themselves are in relatively good condition for their age. They are solid wood, and recently re-painted in white. They are in keeping with the character of the rest of the house (we've kept the 50s tile in the bathroom, and the wood panelling in the den).

Is there any such thing as removing and then re-installing cabinets like these? Is it worth the cost and effort? Does maintaining the older cabinets help or detract from eventual resale value?
