What color is the stone or will it be all board and baton? What type and color roof? You wrote black trim, are the windows black as well? Doors wood or what type and finish? Wood features going to actually be wood?

We originally picked a charcoal colored roof but that's subject to change based off our siding.

Windows are black.

Doors and posts will be real stained wood.

The stone was a ledgestone with browns and blues. (many different options) But as I questioned before is this stone too much? Make it look too busy?

Metal roof or shingle roof? Stone all the way around the house? What do you mean by ledgestone?

We're starting a new build also, kind of a modern farmhouse style, but not really. We didn't want white either, we're going with something similar to this photo, this is our elevation. No brick, just stone and B&B.

Is the stone going all the way around the house? What color is the stone?

Stone on front and partially on front sides. Stone is called Texas Chalk.

Can you post a picture or link for it? Sone should be on all 4 sides and used in the same manner for it to be believable that it actually have a purpose, foundation covering at a minimum up to the window sill.

If you feel up to it, and able to make changes, post the floor plans, all exterior elevations, and a proposed site plan in a new thread and ask for constructive comments on the design. Chances are you will get some very good advice. If you are going to spend a lot of money, you may as well do it right.

Wow, that’s a lot of roof. And also a lot of roof lines, with different slopes to them, and a lot of angles where those different slopes meet. That will add to your cost to build, and to your ongoing cost to maintain the roof. Crevices are never good for easy roof maintenance. And houses where the roof is 2/3 and the house is 1/3 tend to be dark inside.

Are you open to changes in the overall design? As is, the garage is better looking than the house, and its size, especially the roof makes it the dominate mass.

I'm open to changes but we want to stay with a ranch home. I understand that added a lot of cost to foundation and roof. I'm not sure how to avoid the roof lines, any suggestions? The main home roof will be taller to match the garage as I did bring that up. The garage looks taller because there is a bonus room above the garage.

Do you have an architect or is this designed by you?

We found the original design online and made some small revisions to it.

Without the floor plan, I cannot make realistic suggestions, but this concept attempts to minimize the garage.

And I'd consider reducing the width of the porch, and trying to move the windows so they are spaced equally.

I would also reduce the size of the gable over the front door by reducing the pitch of the roof and lowering it.

I'd make more changes, like removing the transom over the door.
