my sister was a Pier One store manager for more than 5 years before moving to a different company. She has only been gone for 2 years. She told me for the most part pier one furniture is poorly built and it doesn't last. She had constant complaints about furniture falling apart or in some way breaking down within 6 mos. to a year of purchase or with heavy daily use. She was in the Florida market...but their products are the same no matter where you go. She always advised me to stick with accessories and forget furniture there.

H202 I agree, it is nice to have a powder room on the first floor as a convenience, and when you live in an urban house (very nice by the way), you sometimes have to make tradeoffs. When I had a powder room in a rather public place, I would generally tell people "there is one here and one downstairs" and people could use whichever one they felt comfortable with. (And the small one had a very loud exhaust fan). I think people kinda play it by ear, most guests are not going to jump up during dinner and go into the bathroom a few feet away, I think a lot of people would go to the more remote one during dinner. If there are a bunch of people around at a cocktail party, they may not care as much. I dunno, if you eat in diners in NYC, the restrooms are about 3 feet square and right there, it's just how it is.

no, no swag. you could pony off one of the canned lights (remove that middle one if you like) and place it directly over the table. (if you don't want to patch a hole, then leave it. They can make a new hole and fish the line from that closest can) they make fixtures or adapters for sloped ceilings. just read the specs. as for the chairs, they're all over the place. google Loom dining chairs. or woven rope chairs

I'm no pro but I think those chairs are not the best choice with that rug. I put together some boards of options. I like the black light fixture with some of them better. What is wrong with the current rug? It looks nice to me. IMO, the black light looks better with this combo. This one doesn't work for me at all I like this one best with either the black or gold light but still not with both the rug and chair. Looks better to me with the original rug. What about this? I think the rug, the grey chair and light are all competing for attention. This kind of chair above, works better for me as it's calmer.
