My ceilings are 8 feet high. ( I think the OP was a once and done in August?). I would be grateful for suggestions to suite my abbreviated dining area. Table is 40 by 62 and nicely fits 6 chairs. We downsized, so the table has 2 leaves but in this downsized house, I have no plans to use the leaves. It has a half wall next to the living room, and I do think I will remove the 1/2 wall at some point. It works ok with the living room, but the dining room is kind of cramped because I do have a breakfront . It's one of those where when we were moving, we moved most of our furniture, getting rid of lots of stuff and some pieces, and since we do have a designated dining room in addition to an eat in kitchen, we figured might as well use it as a dining room. In the meantime, it has a very builder grade chandelier and I can certainly see upgrading. @Julie Zygmontowicz suggested a linear chandelier and I am open to that or to a smaller (20-22 inch diameter ) round one.

that doesn't look like beeswax to me; it seems too thick and "having been liquid." Here's some info on wax and oil finishes. I had also considered a table with company boards but found the extra table space awkward to use as the table legs seemed to restrict where you could place dining chairs. Having a table where the legs expand gives you a lot more flexibility with seating.
