Comments (22)spacetogrow, aspirin works great! It contains salicylic acid. Aspirin was originally derived from willow tree bark. Salicylic acid makes roots grow like crazy and a lot of people use willow bark for cloning plants. Unfortunately I don't have a readily available source of willow so I use aspirin instead. I prefer willow and I have proved it's effectiveness in comparison to aspirin with deep water culture hydroponics. If you have a weeping willow tree chop up some branches and put them in with the roots and you will see the difference. If not then try some aspirin like I do and see for yourself. Either way you can't loose:) DMForcier, hydrophobia??? You lost me there... Eric...See MoreWho has a decorating quirk? Here's mine.
Comments (19)lynninnewmexico - Please show us a close-up of what you have done. Does your fireplace have an electrical outlet? I think mine does, but would have to rummage through the fake ash to see. Since my fireplace is unusable, I have been keeping candles in mine and only light it when we have company. I would love to use the lights! I have the glass blocks with white lights for Christmas decorating on my porch, but saw an idea in Southern Living where they had filled different sized glass cylinders with tiny white lights. I liked that look and think it would work in the fireplace. Natal - Wrapping or stringing lights along the logs is also a great idea! Do you use the green strings, white strings, or is there a brown string of lights? OK, my decorating "quirk" is to make sure all the pictures/paintings on the wall are straight. I am always checking. itsawrap and beekeeperswife - I also fold the toilet paper when we are having company. The funny thing is that I don't like to use that part of the TP when I see it somewhere else. Means that someones hands have been on it already. YIKES!...See MoreAdmit it, you have food quirks
Comments (90)I love a good roast, but it has to be a chuck roast because of the taste and tenderness. Years ago DH made a roast beef sandwich for me and I almost gagged looking at it because it had mayo, pickle relish, and s&p. I took a bite & was hooked. it's the pickle relish that makes it. Now I sometimes make roast for sandwiches only. Love them in the summer with layered dip, which I could eat everyday. One Christmas someone cooked a crown roast. I was so excited because I'd never had one before. When I saw all the fat on it after taken out of the oven, I almost got sick. lol. Thankfully a turkey was also there....See MoreDoes anyone else have this "weird" quirk
Comments (58)Some of my knifes are hand wash only, as for the dishwasher I load all flatware with mouth part up but a knife point down since I have kids. Think if you read a manual it says to load flatware up for the same reasons some mentioned above. Sometimes kibble can collect in the bottom of the basket..plus its hard to get flatware clean if the spoons ect are nesting together and this is easier to watch out for if they face up...I didn't write the manuals but I do agree with this system. As for deco towels..nothing wrong in my eyes with making the bath pretty..but I'll tell you I'm one of the ones that have used the pretty deco towels in peoples homes, I washed and thought..no way I'm touching that community hand towel so I used the pretty deco towel even knowing it wasn't there for hand drying. This is exactly why I mounted a wicker basket onto the wall and loaded it with fresh clean facecloths and a wicker basket on the floor to toss them into . .I wonder how many people just don't dry because they want a clean towel. In my house everyone gets a clean one with each hand wash. I just buy the cheap white face cloths from Walmart 18 pk for 5 bucks..a full load weekly and they can be chemically or thermally sanitized. Worst part is rolling them all...haha...See More- last year
