Just a dimply little poll ... Do you have
Comments (25)I don't have it and my Mom didn't have it either even at 88 when she passed. She still had great legs. Of course I am really active....I get stopped all the time on the street and at the gym and folks ask about my legs LOL. First time it happened was in a line for a food buffet back in 1988 when my Dad was in the hospital in FL. I had on shorts and a gal commented on how amazingly toned my legs were. I was flattered and still am when someone comments on how I look I am vain I guess but I really enjoy working out and the plus is that I get a good toned " self" to boot :) I am almost 61 and on my bike trip last year there were a bunch of guys standing in a parking lot as we rode up on our bicycles. I was getting my stuff together and I noticed they had stopped talking and were watching us....3 gals and 1 guy. When I pulled off my helmet I heard a gasp. One guy came over and then the rest. He said " whoa....I never expected anyone with legs like THAT to have grey hair !!". I laughed and thanked him. He and his friends were very nice and we all had a great conversation about cycling. Bumble...I sure hope I am on a long trail run and just " go on over" when the time comes. I would hate to linger. Momma went in her sleep here at the house with us , sitting in her rocking chair. Great thread ..as usual !! c...See MoreWhat Little 'Quirks' do your Pets have??
Comments (77)I'm loving these stories, so glad this thread was bumped! Our old girl had a few quirks, but the one mentioned upthread was the peeing hand stand. Yep, a female. Especially if she picked out a spot of tall grass, she would stand on her hands. She was a rescue, so we had no idea of her past. She was somewhat trained, so had not been ignored. But early on she had a fear of the dishwasher. If she wandered into the kitchen and the dishwasher door was open, she'd run away. I suspect she wasn't allowed in the kitchen, as she'd stand at the end of the peninsula and peek around the corner. She lived with us for 15 years, so she got over that one. She also would pick up a mouth full of food, carry it to the carpet, and drop it. Thanks for the crumbs, sweetie. Her nighttime walk was at about 9:00. Every night about 8:55, she would start staring and get fidgety. If someone didn't respond, she'd get up and pace around in front of us. Sometimes if we went a little early, we had to give her a signal. We would make the very quietest "psssst" noise, and no matter how asleep she was, she instantly perked up and knew it was time. That lasted until her hearing went. We never trained her to stay off the furniture. I think she knew that from her previous life, as I never once caught her. But I found out that when she stayed at her friend's house, she would get up on the couch. Busted!!...See MoreThose of You That Have A Little Time To Pass What Do You Like To Do
Comments (24)I'm busy from 3 a.m. until 9 p.m. Even though I'm retired, my whole day is filled with what I laughingly call "make work programs" which contribute to our healthy food sources (sprouting, growing wheatgrass, micro-greens, fermenting, a WindowFarm and an AeroGarden - for off-season indoor gardening), and I spend time researching food and food science on-line and working on lesson plans for classes I teach at different venues (Food Bank, Extension Office, Senior Center, 4-H Clubs, Women's Shelter). I make time each day to knit or crochet and for reading. I participate in two message boards on-line, and that's enough for me. I do bulk food preparation - cook once for many meals - so meals don't take much time to prepare, and our home food storage takes some time each day to make sure I track rotation, use, and inventory. I like to try three new recipes each week and like to try new foods and ingredients. The great outdoors takes a big chunk of time during garden season. At least an hour of exercise 5 mornings a week from 4-5 a.m. - in our basement and/or outdoors. I've finally cut back on my volunteering so I can spend more time at home doing things I enjoy. jemdandy - My last PC was a reconditioned business model and I got it inexpensively through hubby works. NO GAMES!!!! If I want to play solitaire I have to find a deck of cards now..... No more time-sucking "free cell" (LOL), but I did love it so........See MoreDieting: What do you have for a little snack?
Comments (51)If I crave something sweet...I eat whatever it is that I am craving (thinking) about. I just don't eat a lot of it. I have lost weight lately...past year....and did that by not dieting. I eat whatever I can think of that sounds good....but I don't eat a lot of anything. About half of what I would normally eat. From here on out, I eat whatever I want. We stayed several weeks following the flood, with a lady who is anorexic. She ate one or two bites, every other day. She is skin and bones but has an unrealistic view of herself and thinks she is fat. She thinks anyone who eats like a "normal" person is a "hog". I told her, at my age...what do I have to look forward to? Dying? I'm going to eat any danged thing I want, and as much as I want. I have found though that I feel better eating less....so I have cut down on portion size. Love that picture, Nicole! You looked fabulous, and I am sure you still do....See More- 6 years ago
