Adapting a "light" switch to a quad outlet

Hi there. We renovated our boiler room see photo.

The "light" switch was connected to the furnace to turn it on and off. We don't have a furnace anymore (all electric heat) and I want to swap the switch with a quad outlet.

My question is how to wire the outlet? There are 2 black, 1 white and 1 blue wire. No grounding wire.

I bought a quad outlet box. I believe I need 2 black and 2 white wires to attach it but I only have 1 white wire. Any suggestions?

Can this be done? Maybe I shoulda gone with 2 standard outlets like this?

Lastly, any reason this outlet has to be surface mounted instead of recessed in the wall. Thats easy enough (and safe) to just cut a hole in the drywall and push the box inside?

Thank you!
