I'd want the light switch to be at the "standard switch height" for your house. That way there is no searching the wall for the switch in the darkness. Or out of habit. I'd not want the towel hanging on the ring/bar to cover anything up. Nor would I want the wire from whatever is plugged into the outlet to be in the way of any switch or to get tangled with the towel. Will things be permanently plugged into it? Or will it be "time of use" only? That can make a difference. With the Thermostat most likely being the least used and if it can't be set at the same height as the light switch, I'd set that a bit higher up on the wall than the light switch/fan switch combo, but aligned vertically with it. Personally, I prefer fan/light combo timer switches. A single switch controls both. You turn the switch on, the light and the fan come on. You turn the switch off, the light turns off immediately but the fan runs for an additional preset time. If you did that, you could put your fan/light switch and outlet in a dual gang box at the appropriate switch height. Put the thermostat in its own single-gang box a little higher on the wall, but aligned vertically with the switch box. Below that, at a height high enough to keep your draped hand towels off the countertop (if I understand your situation I think it's hand towels), but low enough to deconflict with the outlet, place the towel bar/ring. I'd use painters tape and mock up the locations and see how they work. Unless I'm really misunderstanding your description, I don't think "how they look" will be an issue. "New things" sometimes look weird to the un-used to it eyeball. Once you get used to the look, all will be well. So prioritize substance or functionality over style.

If your house is new construction, you'll have plenty of outlets just to meet code. Other places to consider: 1. At least one on your deck for lights, fan, cooking tools, etc. 2. In multiple places around the house and yard, outlets for electric yard tools (so much quieter, easier, and cleaner than gas ones, even if the cords are a nuisance). 3. Make sure there's one that's easy to reach in the room where you'll be ironing. If you do ironing in a laundry room, the laundry outlets may be hard to get to, and the cords on irons are short. 4. Anywhere you'll need to plug in a vacuum. 5. Wherever anything that needs to be charged (hand vacs, emergency lights, etc.) 6. In the attic, basement, and garage. (My electrician installed an outlet for me in my attic for his own use and didn't charge me, rather than run a long power cord to the 2nd floor. My house was built c. 1870 and is deficient in outlets, although I've added several.) 7. Consider outlets on the walls behind the toilets for heated or bidet seats. 8. Have ceiling lights wired with 3 wires, so you can add ceiling fans later easily if you want (and have separate controls for the lights and fans). 9. Make sure that rooms with multiple entrances are wired for 3-way lights. You may need extra outlets in your home office.

The reviews on Amazon don't give me that warm fuzzy feeling. :) There's only 6 reviews and half of them are bad. That is, if you read the actual review. There are a couple of 4 stars that don't sound like they should be 4 stars if you read the comment. Now that it actually exists, I wonder how many people are willing to spend 30 bucks plus shipping for it. As a side note, this thread seems like one that lots of people feel the need to sign up for a Houzz account, make one comment on this thread pointing everyone at SwitchFlip and then not participating in any other discussions. Is it possible that these people have an ulterior motive in promoting this product? :)

I was able to find two pictures in a magazine where the outlet and switch are separate but near each other--in one they were in the same line; in the other, the switch was higher on the wall. Both looked fine, so I think that's what I'll do. But I was amazed at how hard it was to find pictures of kitchens with ANY sort of outlet or switch visible--does everyone with a "magazine" kitchen get plugmold or mocketts, or do they just airbrush them all out?
