small office space in family room ... help!
Comments (1)Maybe repost as a 'design dilemma' or on 'home decorating'? It looks like your space is about five feet wide and can extend down quite a bit. What do you mean by two computers, could you be more specific how many monitors, printers, etc. Do you need storage space for files for your work, or wall space to post instructions or directives, for example? How many people are in your household -- do you need visual privacy? Is your home computer mostly for web surfing? Good luck!...See Moreover abundance of Panettone
Comments (6)Yeah, bummer. I've got 4 big boxes from vendors by the garage door including panettone. Not that long ago it was a case of hard liquor and a titty tool calendar...(unacceptable even then...but never acceptable). Then it was a case of wine for a few years...(now that was cool). Now it is towering sweets. 20 pounds of it. I peek but close the boxes back up...(in case something good is in there)...like my weakness shortbread. My neighbors don't want any of it. Most of them bake. (I don't re-gift any of it...just offer a bounty of free stuff). I just don't want all the empty sugars and carbs. Bread pudding is an exception as panettone is great for that. For a family gathering or a crowd. I don't care for it but will make it. I have frozen panettone in the past for an Easter bread pudding but now just give it away. ASAP, lol. Most recipes are so similar one could be had with a google search. Fresh grated nutmeg and a pinch of dried ginger a must. If you feel like I did and don't want to waste it, freeze some for later. Test a bread pudding, small batch. I have friends that do back flips for TreLeche and I just don't get it. Sweet milk bread? ...but if into that, would be good for that as well....See MoreSmall family room layout, help with options!
Comments (9)What a nice place! Hubby and I have a similar space and we also love our armchairs. I read some advice that was really helpful - decorate for how you use the space day-to-day and not for the few days a year when you have visitors. In other words, don’t overfill the space with furniture that is too large just to provide guest seating. On your floor plan, block out a 48” wide walkway between your two doors and then see if there is enough space left for another chair. Arms of chairs and/or sofa shouldn’t overlap. Ottomans or small X-benches could provide extra seating when needed. Also, your beautiful mirror might look even better hung lower, with the top either at the same height as window top or if that seems too low, with the top at the same height as curtain rod....See MoreInput on my small family room
Comments (36)I probably am not understanding or didn't read it carefully enough, but this is a new fan to the location? I am just remembering we did that in our MBR when we first moved in. There was no fixture or anything light or fan there in the ceiling. We had electricians install it with the wall switch and it was not a big production at all. In fact, I laugh to myself because I was sure I wanted a remote in addition, thinking that's what we'd likely use. I have both. I don't recall ever using the remote and FWIW we so infrequently adjust the fan on or off or speed. My point is, it was not a big deal to add a switch to the wall. Maybe my situation was different, but yes to the ask another electrician....See MoreLars
