Definitely paint or stain the mantle. Darker brown.
For me, it’s just a lot of white. I’d reface the fireplace. Or wipe off some of the white to show the brick through. Add some more character.
The curtains looks drop high.

Tbh it seems like a mishmash of a couple different styles together.

I love the color of your curtains (although I find the one-slided approach a bit off-putting). What about a throw pillow in that color on the couch to tie it all together a big more? Move the china cabinet over forward the fireplace more so that it is not crowding the curtain.

This family room is in work in progress. The coffee table, credenza on the right and glass side tables are going. The tall cabinet is staying and will probably refinish in a different color.

Here is the view from the kitchen. The kitchen cabinet is in dark chocolate brown and would probably incorporate that color in the family room. Thanks everyone!

I suggest you replace the tall cabinet with a low buffet with decor above and have drapery panels on each side of your patio doors. Those two small changes already make it look more balanced.

Shady, the jbl speakers are very important to my husband, so I can’t replace them. I will get a new tv stand (not sure with the color yet) and will probably paint the back wall back or something.

I have these ideas for the back of the TV. What do you think guys? Thank you very much.
