What an impressive space! I love that you're asking about balance. I think more people should talk about it!

I would feel perfectly comfortable with a matching black-and-white patterned chair. (I'm assuming that you purchased the chair recently and can buy the exact match.) You have plenty of plain background to support that much pattern - even more if you ask me! You might add a throw to the sectional in a coordinating pattern to pull the chair colors to that side of the room along with the throw pillows.

You might consider a few more things to help the space feel more balanced:

• Try placing your footstools directly adjacent to the coffee table (photo left side) to visually extend it toward the long end of the sectional.
• If you have a third matching window on the photo left side, I would be tempted to reposition the furniture grouping so the backside center of the sectional's long leg lines up with the center of the middle window.
• With the furniture repositioned, you would end up with a space behind the short leg of the sectional. I would look to use the wall space behind to balance the opening into the kitchen. That could be a mirror, a bookshelf, art, or floating shelves on the wall. Whatever it is would need to be at least as tall as the opening to the kitchen and around 2/3 as wide as the wall section in order to provide visual balance. Whatever fills that spot could again include pattern to echo the chairs.
