Polychrome Daylilies 2023

Show us your perky polychromes on this post. Polychromes have flowers that intermingle or blend many colors. Our next category will be Eyed Daylilies Without An Edge on Sunday.

Kentucky Lucky was my best performing polychrome last year. It's registered as a yellow peach polychrome, but it showed a lot of pink last season. The best scapes had bud counts in the 20s.

I only have a few polychromes, just hoping the photos i post are correct.

Techny Spider is getting established.

Sweet Autumn Mist, a bonus, a bit slow to multiply.

Pizza Crust is a star in the garden, has rebloomed for me.

I love polychromes.

CARELESS DREAM: A Bennett intro which he said was one of his best and was one of his last intros. It is a beautiful flat 6.5 inch bloom.

FINDER'S DELIGHT: Another Bennett intro.

FRINGED SWEETHEART: Intensely fringed soft pink with yellow highlights.

Avon Sunrise is by a hybridizer I am not familiar with. Sour Puss has warm hues with its green heart and peach shading. A Shooter, I see. Diploids in general I find need more dividing to maintain bloom quantity. Siloam Amazing Grace is a nice clear yellow. Mister Butters had a good year. In general, earlier plants performed better, when they could withstand an onslaught of earwigs. How many earwigs didn't I kill? Saul has slain his thousands, but I think I matched that (with little effect, as they were in the ten thousands). Butter Cream was nice (but again plagued by earwigs). Catherine Folker had a very good year. A large-flowered polychrome, but yellow and green are dominant. Always has instant rebloom. A ML. Good height. A Joiner evergreen that performs well, selected by Richard Norris years ago from a garden he visited. Green Mystique has a precise and dainty edge. Seemed closer to five rather than six inches, perhaps because of the slight recurve. Gives a respectable performance most years--and that kind of performance this past year made one stand out. Sarah Christine looked pretty good. A softer yellow, which is usually what I prefer. Crintonic Mister Apollo may be a good performer. As well as Green Icon. We shall see.

Near White Daylilies 2023

Nan and Sherry - Thanks for the comments on the seedlings! About half of my near whites either didn't bloom or were eaten by deer. Here are two seedlings that bloomed for the first time last year:. Both bloomed as lates, and I hope they will be lates in the future. (August Frost X Winter's Angel) X Last Snowflake Zuzu's Treasure X Believe in Angels - This one sometimes looks white and other times looks very light yellow. It had bud counts in the mid teens. Nan - I like your photo of Last Snowflake. I missed mine last year since it didn't scape at all. Celeste - I love that photo of White Satin, and also your Forsyth Summer Snow X Green Icon. That is an amazing edge on your Awaken the Dawn seedling! Sherry - Sunday Gloves looks so white! I always like your photos of How High the Moon! Debra

Court and Spark was too small a bloom here to make it into the garden. Coral Corduroy looks very appealing. It is rather short, but that is good for pot culture. Why didn't the Ellison seedling get a name? All those buds, and such a beautiful ruffled flower. Slow to increase? That usually doesn't stop people from registering. Tyger River (a bonus) was very short this year (of course, not without company in this bad year). I am wondering if I should pick up Miss Demeanor. Evaluation of Tiger Town? I see it is a cascade. I look forward to seeing Hot Buttered Rum in the garden next year. Sitting Cool has been very pleasing here; not sure I would call it orange, but it certainly warrants a picture. I am always interested in reviews of the Stone Palace cultivars. The Victorian Lace seedling is lovely. Since VL does well here, it arouses more interest.

Patterned Daylilies 2023

Debra, you have some beautiful patterned seedlings! My favorites are the Core Value seedling and the Karelia kid seedling. We don't grow many patterned ones and I didn't get photos of some of my favorite ones. Badenoch Jewel has some bands of color. It is a great grower here. Broadway Mystique is a small flowered tet. Choose Kind is a rather odd color combination. Feanorian Lamps is turning out to be one of my favorite patterned ones. It is a diploid. Generous Spirit so far has been consistent in patterning. Nordic Sunshine is has several different faces, but I like them all. Second Horizon seems to have more pattern on the sepals. Jeeper Creepers looks like it is a good grower. The pattern is variable, but it usually has a pattern. We planted Thunderbird Dancer is a not-so-great place. It hasn't lived up to its registered stats, but it is rather new so we will give it time. I find polychromes very attractive and have liked all the ones posted so far. My favorites are Smoky Mountain Autumn, Little Flock, Siloam bolden Gate, Careless Dream, Sugar Cream Pie, and Pizza Crust. And what gorgeous polychrome seedlings have been posted! Brad, what luscious color on Jolyene Nichole Smokey Mt. Autumn! Celeste, the very ruffled seedling out of Angels Gather Round is extraordinary! David, I especially like the seedling out of Bass Gibson for its colors and its toothy edge!

Here is my ivory polychrome seedling out of Inimitable. I will probably register it if it does well after being lined out. I had hoped to get it lined out this fall, but with my husband's illness and death, it just didn't happen.

It shows more colors when it's cool.

I am not a fan of pastels so we don't have many polychromes here. Here are a few of ours.

I didn't take this photo of Little Rainbow this season, but I had to include it since it was one of our first daylilies. I was drawn to the yellow/pink coloration of this simple little flower.

Chitty Chitty Fang Fang has shadings of orange.

I really like Glowing Quasar.

Lemon Fringed Pastel is one of my favorite polychromes.

Something in My Teeth did well last season.

Tangerine Angel is a lovely small flowered daylily.

Nan - I like Little Rainbow. I grew it for many years before moving out most of my miniatures. I also like the colors on Something in My Teeth.
