A 2 gal stainless steel step on trash can (thrift store $4) lined with plastic bag in inside bucket. Toss a bit of shredded paper or napkins in first to help absorb liquids. When it's full we carry bucket w/ plastic bag out to compost. Bag is rinsed as needed & reused until ripped. If we're canning or generating a lot of waste like melon rinds, we use a simple bucket & it goes out right away. Compost can sits in front of kitchen trash, so it is easier to compost than throw into trash. Works for us even with teens, children, & house guests. Gathering more materials than before because it's so easy. Last compost collector was a $.10 plastic ice bucket w/ lid and handle lined with a sheet of newspaper or junk mail paper. Corrine

Last season, I got lucky with these: CarnivalXPapilio PapilioXGilmar/Jade Serpent (seeds got mixed up) PapilioXLa Paz PapilioXEmerald Seedlings are doing good getting TLC. The XEmerald and XLa Paz seedlings went to sleep in early spring! Very strange. Do Papilio crosses really do this? This season's attempts (seedpods): PapilioXStriped Panther - 6 weeks old PapilioXNight Star - 6 weeks old ChicoXPapilio - 4 weeks old. Jungle StarXPapilio- 3 weeks old others still under observation... Papilio has the biggest seedpod while Chico has the tiniest dotted seedpod! I hope I get viable seeds from this. My 'star' cross for this season (if I get lucky): Pink Floyd X Residence I surely wish these crosses would be as beautiful as your crosses. Three to four years seems forever. I just take photos with labels and then continuously update with more photos which are sorted into folders according to the Latin binomial names, nested into genus folders. I really can't be arsed to use spreadsheets. I have folders of ongoing experiments, also documented with photos. Then if they die, the folders get moved into my Dead folder, photo-history and all. That's easily terabytes of raw image data but it's easier to visually track how a specific plant has done over the years. As for keeping track of spending, I'm with SLD there and we're both blissfully rowing in De Nile. I know exactly what that's like, Stush. I had to stop collecting block planes at some point, realizing that after the third one, the rest were no longer paying for themselves and I could've bought a planer with the money to make my job easier.
