I haven't seen that granite in person, but wow yours is so glossy and beautiful. Love the way it looks with your cabinets; the peninsula looks soooo pretty. Don't like the marble BS with your granite. Agree with palimpsest that the scale and pattern of the movement is too similar to that in your granite. They'll end up fighting rather than complementing each other. Of the glass I like the one in the middle. More neutral than the others and looks to go very well with the color of the floors. I don't think it's stark. The subway is a great shape that melds with the traditional ( transitional?) style of your cabs, but the glass has a modern feel and goes well with your fabulously glossly granite which is the star in that kitchen. Keep it simple. BTW, no matter what the backsplash or what the GC says, no No NO to the 4" granite BS! If you have more of the glass tile, yes please post a picture with several in place so we can see how it looks and please show us whatever else you find!

Furletcity, you have actually been very helpful. I hadn't thought about raisig the height of the window covering go give more height. I guess I've been thinking inside the box. Do you have a particular color of roman shade in mind? I'm not sure what salmon/pink cast looks like but the tile color is called illusione caramel. Sorry you had to go back and forth. I wasn't thinking of using matching granite tiles for the backsplash but rather using one of the canaletto tiles with 3X3 granite inserts. You are right that the counter is dark. Your kitchen looks very much like mine (perimeter in cashmere with a glaze, and cherry heirloom for island). My granite is sienna bordeaux and I think picking up one of the colrs in the island for the backsplash is how I am going to go. I had considered subway tiles in vanilla but I think it will be too much of all that color with our cabinets going all the way to ceiling (9ft). I know what you mean about it being too busy, though, which is my worry. Your kitchen is beautiful and I can't wait till mine gets to that stage! I actually think the paint color you have on backsplash right now looks really good, so you could use something in a solid color to pick up a granite color as long as it isn't too dark. By the way, are your island pendants by HInkley? They look like the ones I have been considering!

Hi Chispa, House is a townhouse built in 1996, trying to modernize the look. As far as decorating style, I like modern/contemporary, nothing too funky. Something that would be cohesive with the rest of the kitchen, and bring the kitchen to life a little. It's very white right now.
