We're finally working on the last 5% of our kitchen remodel. We cancelled planned island pendants at the last minute, because they looked weird against the beam that crosses over the island. Now I'm really wishing for lighting over the island that's on its own switch, for cozy evening mood lighting.
Our designer's lighting plan is attached. The beam is marked, it's 6" wide, 9" deep. We have 4" recessed lights everywhere marked. The red-circles are the missing pendant lights. Should I replace those with two recessed lights? Track lights? Do I need a light on the other side of the beam, or is it fine to just light the center of the island?
