What kind of style is this, and what might go well with it?
Comments (18)I don’t have specific advice, but twice in the last year I stayed in historic buildings that were recently restored and converted into hotels. They maintained the fabulous ironwork of their original era, but they were paired with very clean-lined, modern furnishings and lighting, and the juxtaposition was stunning. I think Beverly’s advice to be consistent and have a vision is key. If it were me and I wanted to feature these beautiful railings I’d if at all possible bring in a designer. I’m curious to find out if the railings are a definite style. I saw a bit of French, art nouveau and maybe even a little English arts & crafts. Definitely too delicate for Tuscan. Congratulations on your beautiful new home....See MoreHelp! What kind of style is this?
Comments (5)Cramped, eclectic, organic modern ................: Using what you have, and missing some important scale considerations. such as the too large lamp on a far to small table to support the lamp. Just because it is on the internet, doesn't make it great. It abounds...... simply Google organic and moder living spaces" No matter the style, editing matters........AND IN THE BEST it isn't one stop shopping . Though you can find it at Pottery barn, West Elm, and a million online sites such as Lulu and Georgia. You still have to cull the selections to what suits the room and your budget....See MoreWhat interior door styles would you recommend for contemporary home?
Comments (8)There were a lot of houses built in the middle of the last century in the US with cheap, hollow core flat panel doors. When people refer to cheap flat panel doors that's what they're thinking of. As the previous posters have shown, there are more expensive, very attractive flat panel doors available. Maybe not at big box stores, but if you live in a major metro area you should be able to find them somewhere locally. The price of lumber has been all over the place the last two years, and while it's not at its peak, it's still high as compared to pre-pandemic, so be prepared for sticker shock....See MoreWhat is this style of metal work called?
Comments (7)It is Art Deco...I love it, too. Inspired by French art and design from the 1920s, art deco (short for arts decoratifs) is characterized by sleek, metallic finishes like stainless steel, glass, etc Look how it was incorporated into glass doors. We had similar leaded glass on bookcases and our dining room china cabinet that was built into the wall. House was built in 1913. No more of that available, but then who knew about lead? Every inch of the house was lead paint, as well. The staircase/railing you show certainly was custom made and very, very expensive. A ready made for install, would probably look like this:...See MoreHomeScapes Home Staging San Diego
