Things that I am grateful for
Comments (5)I have more things to be grateful for than can be mentioned: tolerably good health, finances, and shelter. A wonderful daughter and SIL; terrific neighbors; a car that runs nicely and enough money to fuel it with enough time to drive it; seeing the bottom of the sixth box of yarn [3 to go]; finding an old recipe and re-discovering how good it tastes... Waking up to sunshine and seeing only a few stubborn piles of icy snow remaining, revealing that not only is the grass mostly green, but daffy stems are 4" and growing. Missed the crocus this year; did they bloom beneath the snow? The shrubs and vines are showing their buds: tentative nubs on the wisteria, definite bumps on the grapes, thoughtful swellings on the clematis, yellow popcorn on the forsythia. The azaleas seem shocked at the quantity of snow and ice that buried they for so long, they are greening but not budding yet. Spring is coming, but the soil is so waterlogged that one sloshes across the lawn to inspect the flower beds. The gardens are mud, a blank slate defined by kale stalks and the bean fence; I stand on the patio, sunshine uplifting the heart and dream of planting. Soon. I'm grateful for the future....See MoreI'm beyond grateful
Comments (17)I just wanted to chime in here with best wishes, and glads to see you here - and to tell you that my aunt has been taking the chemo treatments for non-Hodgkins lymphoma for several years... she's coping just fine, enjoying her life of retirement near her children. She will be 90 next year. Not sure I'm spelled it correctly, or that its the precise disgnosis you got, but do want to assure you that modern medicine can accomplish wonders these days....See MoreGRATITUDE Thurs., January 10
Comments (6)Okay, first of all I'm grateful for the good blood test results I got yesterday. My cholesterol is lower than it's ever been, and I'm so glad no one is going to try to push statin drugs on me. My glucose is out of the pre-diabetic category where it's been for a while. Now it's just inside the normal range. Triglycerides are 168--higher than the 150 cap on normal, but not bad and not nearly as bad as they were 12 years ago before I started eating low carb. Back then they were a dangerous 547. So I guess all my self-deprivation has paid off. Yay! Also, I'm grateful for Rita's post because once again she reminds me to pay my quarterly taxes. Why can't I remember these things on my own?? Thanks!...See MoreThis week I'm grateful for...
Comments (25)Sibling relationships can be a mixed bag. I am super close to my twin sister. Although we don't live close, we keep close by texting, talking and Instagram. My older sister is another story. I don't want to get into all the quirks. Both my twin and I just have to accept that we will never have a relationship with our older sister. We superficially keep in touch, but things can't be forced. No falling out per se, just totally different ways of thinking. My brother now lives an hour from my twin sister, so, they see each other often. I keep in touch through emails and I also have a relationship with his wife. dH does not like my brother. Different political views. I am going to have to work around this if I want to visit my brother in the near future. I don't particularly care for my DH's sister. Again, very different viewpoints, but with her it is our differences between what is right and wrong. But, she is all my DH has left, so she is in our lives. But.....getting back to our the theme of this thread. I am grateful that I am going to meet my cousin in the city today. I don't see her often and this was planned for a while. I am grateful that the weather is conducive to walking around the city today. Most of all, I am grateful that I CAN walk as far and as long as I like....See More- 3 years ago
