Wiring a single pole dimmer switch to recessed lights
Comments (3)A switch cuts the black line only. In the junction box find the incoming power (black) and hook up the white, painted black, of the cable going to the switch. At the switch hook up the white which you will also paint black on this end, to the black of the switch. Now hook up the black in the cable to the other black of the switch. Hook up all grounds. You just made a switch loop. At the junction box take the black from the switch and hook to the black going to the light. Hook the white from the light to the white of the incoming power cable. You are done....See MoreNeed help coordinating kitchen island lights with kitchen nook lights.
Comments (4)@megs1030 The Kichler pendant in the picture is 15.75" Height x 10.50" Width. Island is 94"x 41" and ceiling height is 9 ft. Table is 48 in. This set will be replaced as well (the idea is to get something with a combination of white and brushed nickel or stainless still but same size). @acm Those look great. The island pendants and the nook light fixture are only 8 ft apart (from center to center). I'm wondering if switching from what I have now - mini pendants, 7" x 4" - to something much bigger as these Kichler ones (mentioned above) won't look too busy when combined with the nook. They look great but I don't mind finding something smaller if that is what it takes to bring the perfect balance....See MoreKitchen Lighting Help Needed - Where to place Can Lights
Comments (1)If you ever do another post just add pics to the original BTW this is what happens when a cabinet sales person designs your kitchne the lighting needed to be addressed beofore cabinet install so now you need a lighting designer a safe way is to add pot lights out from the upper cabinets far enough so the light lights the work area and does not make shadows on that work area. This will take about one hour of a lighting designer time and IMO well spent....See Moreneed help with kitchen table lighting as well as rest of kitchen
Comments (10)I don’t prefer predominantly black fixtures for this space; imo, it obstructs the line of sight too much. But the lantern option OP mentioned is for sure better than the current wagon wheel fixture. Here is an article about staging with lighting, and lanterns are referenced: https://www.homewithkeki.com/2018/06/home-staging-lighting.html And, btw, OP - although lighting choices are ultimately a matter of personal preference - fyi, copper works with wood, and copper also works with your wood; it could offer you an updated look. I think the lantern/fixture I show above (in my previous post) is out your budget. But there are actually many light fixtures in the world - and the one I posted earlier was but one option. And at least I posted a lighting option... seeing as this was supposedly a post requesting options for replacing a light fixture... If anyone thinks that lighting and light fixtures are not important for staging a home for sale - think again....See Moremox77
