I'm kicking myself...
Comments (15)Geeze!!!Highlandsgardener,What seems to be the problem??? I have been off line for a few months because of problems with my computer and was heartbroken because I couldn't get back on line to talk with everyone and read all the posts. And visit all the forums.Because even though I've had my computer since 12/04.I"m still a newbie.I haven't had much internet experience or computer experience.Even though I lack in those areas,I do have some people skills. I do know If I posted a post that said I've had enough,I surely wouldn't expect any good from it.And I'd get nothing less.I see you've only been a member since 11/05 and already your angry. What's up with that?I can't tell you how many times I've posted and got no replies,Or said or did something dumb. "And let me tell you >Some were doozies!!!But I've never took it personally, And when I've said or done dumb or off the wall things,No one EVER said anything so rude to me.I have met some very Wonderful,Fun, Loving people on this internet,Forum,Thread,However you want to describe it.Maybe if you took the time to see what intrest these special breed of people,You'd find you have something in common with someone. Not everyone shares the same interest. And I must say,No one wants to read a post that's basically saying,We're all snooty or stuck up,Or were running a popularity contest. And no one wants to go out of their way to make you feel like your back in gradeschool, I for one, Feel honored to be part of all this. My advice:Relax!!Take The Time ,And Smell The Roses!!!...See MoreOpinions please, I'm second guessing my colors
Comments (35)A mood board is a great idea. Force yourself to prioritize. What is the one piece you really don't want to give up. I'm betting its the stove. (That would be mine! That stove is to die for!) So make everything work with that. On my monitor I hadn't seen pink in the granite. Now knowing that, I'd say the cherry color in the cabinet wood is just fine with the granite you chose. Is the color of the stove also present in the granite slab? If it is, you are good. its really hard to judge color from a photo posted online, so here's one 'rule' that may help you focus in on what you -may- want to consider changing. If the color, or any shade of that color is in your granite slab, you can use it in the room. An exact match is not interesting or necessary. Second, you usually want a dominant tome and then other colors you bring out of that slab will be accents, so you won't use so much of them. Now, there are a million caveats to that, and of course, breaking the rules can bring fantastically stunning drama, but I think if you start with that one rule as a starting place, your own vision will begin to materialize. Whatever feels good to you will work. Just keep at it until it gels for you. With all the ideas coming from folks here and what you can see because you're looking directly at the different colors and where they will be in relation to each other, and considering the light in the room, it will begin to come together and you'll get a feel for where you will or won't want to challenge color 'rules'. I should say all of the above goes out the window if you're going for a monochromatic look. LOL BTW, I love my miele vacuum and I didn't even know they make dishwashers, but I can wax poetic about my bosch dishwasher. In addition to how well it functions, I'm very sensitive to background noise and its sooo quiet. Since its the way your faucet will stay where you aim it that really attracts you to it, maybe look at upscale stylized commercial configurations. I don't have any experience to draw on, its just a thought....See MoreSecond guessing myself...
Comments (16)Realism, actually the more I look at granite, I prefer the laminate. With some of the laminates and the new effects, I actually had to go over and knock on them to determine if they were real or not. We're going with bull-nosed edging on the laminate so I don't think it'll look cheap when it's finished. Hemera, ha, yeah I asked the builder about the floor…he was polite but basically said "yeah, you can't afford it…" ;) Ppbenn, yay! :) 35ftcabo, I LOVE your kitchen! Do you know the style/name of the handles you chose? That's what I'm looking for and haven't quite found yet. And in your first pic, what is the cabinet behind the peninsula? It almost looks like a hutch…was that a custom piece? It's gorgeous! Phoebesmom, do you have any photos of your finished kitchen? I'd love to see it "in action" rather than just the sample piece I've got. I really love the color, too!...See MoreNeed some help! Found the Chairs, but I'm 2nd guessing...
Comments (8)Thank You All. Before I read your responses, I had mocked up a 36" chair to check it out. It didn't grab me. Then I looked at a BUNCH of pins on my Pinterest account...funny, the shorter 36" chairs DID look odd. So, I txt'd her this am, told her I couldn't make it, but told her if she doesn't sell them to let me know. They would make great extra chairs for when the table is extended. Most of those type of chairs I have found are 36" in height. Although occasionally I do find a 40" set. I think I will hold out for either a larger set (dimensions and quantity) or maybe go with a totally different style of chair. Thanks again, you all confirmed what was already in my head.
