I guess this is representative of why I bought our home and makes me smile? It has many original features and had a nice warmth to it. I had to track down this toilet and sink and the legs (there was a plain white toilet before and cheap particle board vanity that was water damaged). I got lucky there was the original tile under the vanity. I need to finish decorating and puting up my hall mack accessories in here. There is still a long way to go, lots of undoing remuddling around the house, and work in the other bathrooms and kitchen (they need full renos because of the layouts).

The flowers of the Tulip Tree do not appear garish to me. Firstly they are usually so high up and well camouflaged that people don't even see them. Secondly they are are largely greenish yellow with only a small band of orange. So no, I don't find them garish. I don't think there are any species flowers I 'don't care for'.

I’m sure there’s some pink in there somewhere. Daylily blooms at the end of the day.
