After the fiasco of my last water leak, remodel of bathroom/bedroom

floor, I swore I would never do anything else to my house again, ever. Nothing major anyway. I did have plans to redo my driveway and get a new water heater soon, but the water heater decided to die before I got to replace it. Got home from my west coast trip on Sunday, late Thursday night I noticed some water on the floor of my kitchen. I thought my dog Chewie had dribbled water on it, but then I looked at the threshold and it was warped. OMG, not again. Yep, again, not even a year after the leak in my bathroom!

Luckily I had a tool to turn the water off at the main. Problem is, I wasn't strong enough to turn it, so had to call my neighbor. Luckily he's a night owl and was awake as it was nearly midnight.

I was so stressed out Thursday thinking the insurance company isn't going to cover any of it because the hot water heater was old, but they just don't cover the heater. Everything else they will cover. Thank goodness. I didn't sleep but maybe an hour.

The water heater is replaced now. Water damage company came today also to check things out, and set up fans and a dehumidifier. They're coming back Monday and Tuesday to demolish my kitchen, livingroom floor and hallway. Almost all my beautiful Pergo will be gone and I'll have to pick another ugly new color. I really hated all the new flooring out. At least the other two bedrooms will stay the same. I made the claim with my insurance company while the water damage person was here and they called me right away, within 5 minutes of me doing it online. So, the water damage guy was able to speak directly to my insurance company and explain what he found for the initial report.

My daughter is coming to pick up Chewie so he can stay with her while they work on my house. He was a little freaked out by all the people in and out today. Plus, she really spoiled him rotten while I was gone and I think he misses her and her dogs. He's been a Pedigree eating dog all his life, but when I got him back he wouldn't eat. She feeds her dogs Blue Buffalo. So guess what I had to go buy the other day? Other than the sweet potatoes from my garden and some scrambled eggs, he wouldn't eat, until I got the new dog food.

Today I went out and bought a bunch of plastic ware, paper plates and bowls. I also got some stuff to make some quiche and spaghetti to freeze in individual portions so I don't have to eat out a bunch over the next two months or however long it's going to take. I'm really dreading this.
