The house itself does look like Florida. Its the landscaping that needs some help. A few palm trees, and other plants native to Florida. No, I wouldnt paint the brick. I dont see anything wrong with the way its painted. It looks pretty much, like any other south florida house, I have seen. Most though, have more landscaping, and hardly ever a bare front yard.

Thank you for your response! You're right, the existing colors do work with the brick, but they don't want this look, it's a northern or central Florida look as it is. Looking for an updated fresh coastal or farmhouse look if possible.

Leave the brick and paint the siding and trim, including the door and posts all the same color... a soft sage green hue... make the plantings the star with bright colors and greenery

Please don't paint the house gray or something called Ëvergreen Fog. If your house was in the Pacific Northwest that would work, but as already pointed out, your house DOES look typical of Floridian sunshine and lightheartedness, with the welcome addition of brick to protect you from megastorms and alligators. If they don't like the yellow, then pick from a pallette of alternate tropical hues and get a pop color for the door.

If it were my house I'd landscape to add much more outdoor seating space, under some mimosa trees. I'd make it a space to enjoy outdoor life, both visually and socially. Invest in that.

I think a peachy color would go with the brick. Then, just plant a lot more. I'd start with a really pretty flowering plant in the front yard. Or 3.

I would leave the brick. The house color is really fine, too. I would bring in a new front door. The current door does nothing for the house. And the choice of door is where you can establish whatever style you want for the house - whether it be ”farmhouse” or ”modern”, etc. And then the rest is landscaping - and lighting on house and grounds. Florida is all about landscaping.

I think this is super but I don't know how it would work with the brick or the entry door.

I would consider white with light gray trim, and leave the brick for now. Tons of South Florida homes are white and light gray, but don’t have the red brick. It will look good, maybe farmhouse, but not beachy. As mentioned, you can make it tropical with vegetation. The white would make the color in the vegetation pop.

Maybe do a visualization with white paint, light gray trim and tropical foliage with some of the brick colors in the foliage.

In the meantime, google images for white South Florida homes, and maybe white Florida Keys homes.

I would change the front door too.

Maybe do something with the porch rails and floor later. One step at a time. I’m thinking white posts and no rails, but the other decisions once executed will help you figure that out.

Thank you eveyone for the suggestions, they have been very, very helpful. We'll try them out on a virtual paint website. When the project is finished at the end of November, I'll post "after" pics. This is such a fabulous resource, thank you to all who participate and help others with dilemas!

Whatever color you choose, I would paint the bricks also the same color. If there are any bird of paradise plants close to the house, I would take them out asap. They will only get bigger and will be a *)*&&%$ to dig them out in the future. As a matter of fact, all the plants look to close to the house. Maybe move them to another place on the property.

Is it possible to remove the railing section and the two posts in the middle on the front porch? That would open up the entrance way.
