I would not use Malathion on any indoor plants unless they were treated outdoors and with time before they were brought inside.

Agree that Malathion keeps well; Safer’s Soap brand of RTU Neem keeps well, but I can’t speak to others. Neem concentrate does not keep for years in my experience, but congeals and becomes unusable.

use it.. of the bugs dont die.. properly dispose of it... and buy new...

i see no reason to buy again.. if its still effective...

that said.. i cant imagine what you would be trying to kill in october ... its going to frost or freeze by month end.. most bugs are already gone.. or close to dying from cold nights in your zone...

Ken, its been awhile since Ive been on here & for the last 3 wks, I couldnt get on the gardenweb page- it wouldnt let me. It kept redirecting me back to Houzz home page. I thought maybe the forum finally got shut down, due to low traffic or something. Im still not even able to type correctly on here w/o typing delays or freeze-ups. Very frustrating!

Anywho, LY, I doused all of my plants liberally w/ neem several times and before bringing in for the winter and STILL saw a few bugs in the house, such as tiny little house spiders, mealies on my orchids (first time ever but now theyre gone); earwigs; and, toward the beginning of March, when it started warming up, I started seeing little off-white, worm-like larvae in my water collection trays after watering, so coming out of drainholes, I guess. No idea what thise were- probably dont want to know, LOL! In general, I very much dislike having bugs of any kind in my house (dont mind a spider or 2) and wanted to make sure my insecticides were up to speed. Sounds like maybe the neem oil had gone bad & I didnt realize. I do clean that room thoroughly each spring after plants go outoutsid- rubbing alcohol for window cleaning, diluted bleach for floors and baseboards, lemon oil to clean my wooden plant shelves, wiping out ceiling corners and any webs, etc etc. Sadly, I actually did not neem anything this year before bringing in, (YIKES!!) I didnt have time between work, repots, keeping up w/ watering watering, shopping for a replacement car (mine finally died at 18 yrs old 😂!) pets, household chores, outdoor garden plant care, etc. I tried but just couldnt get there. Amazingly, I am seeing hardly any bugs this year, so far. Dont want to jinx myself! We had A LOT less mosquitoes in the yard this year- maybe b/c I started feeding the birds year round, instead of only in winter & early spring, maybe also due to our drought conditions in June, August & September. Who knows? Maybe all of that yielded less bug populations to begin with. The previous year, when most of June & all of July were constant monsoons, I saw earwigs everywhere outside outside- under pots, in soil, etc. and alot more spiders and daddy longlegs.

Personally, I would get rid of the Malathion at a hazardous waste site and never, ever use it in my garden. There's a reason it's been banned for decades in much of the world.
