Help me design/decorate our front porch entry
Comments (10)Maybe a outdoor rug and some metal art on the back wall. Paint a turquoise blue or some brighter color. Or a wreath even if you like them. Like this:https://www.wayfair.com/decor-pillows/pdp/three-posts-4-piece-wall-decor-set-thps3885.html Even if you find something thats more for indoor use a coat of Rust-Oleum spray paint would give it enough protect in that covered area. I would definitely paint the entryway white or some other much lighter color to brighten it up. A colorful pot with dried flowers or pine cutting for fall/winter. You can paint a red clay pot with any acylic indoor or outdoor paint. It weather's off a bit over time and looks "rustic"....See Morecould you help in decorating entry, landscape and hardscape please
Comments (5)I have no experience whatsoever with such a climate as I live in New England. However, from a structural standpoint, you might try to find a trustworthy contractor who could install three very large trees to balance the scale of the tall building with the ground plane. One tree should go in the space in photo #2 to the left of the deep end of the pool. The other two elsewhere in a triangular aspect. Perhaps one where the entry paving forms a corner in photo 3, and the third off to the opposite side of the pool. Whatever is in there now is just much to short. Make a serious investment in the proper giant trees for the conditions and the rest will fall into place. A lush ground cover all over would tie the place together. Whether it's soil improvement or just selecting something that is amenable to the climate, a uniform simple 'lawn' of low maintenance plants would make this peaceful. Visually, a waterfall would have to be enormous to look to scale here, and would have to go to the far end of the pool. Tricky to make that look cohesive. A water feature that creates sound near a sitting area is always welcome. A huge modern sculptural piece might be fun toward the left of the deep end of the pool. For style and realistic installation issues, you really need a designer, a plant expert, and a qualified contractor. You should stroll around town to find inspiration from you neighbors. Best wishes!...See MoreNeed Help with Entry Decor
Comments (7)I think the main prob is the art and the mirrors above it. Deco is right. too many squares. the art, the mirrors, the glass in the door, the wainscot, the lantern,,,,,too many. try something round or softer. I'd think about bringing the rug further back. let me post a few examples of a console in a entry w/wainscotting and / or you type of console I love this example. notice the rug, the styling, the art, etc. try not to use a square mirror this one is taller, more rectangle, and it's by itself on the wall How about doing a few chairs on the side and one piece of art (larger than the horse) and no mirrors? simple lamp, baskets, rug, got for a rectangular piece of art or mirror that spans the length The sconce idea is a good one. maybe try it for yours? but w/a decent art in the middle...See MoreHelp me complete decor for my townhome's entry
Comments (41)I now have a very fancy laundry room with a wool rug. The runner looks very good in my second floor laundry. Here's a pic of the entry space without the rug. I'm now looking for suggestions for another rug. I can't go too light because I'll be coming in from the garage, but I would like something nice and soft to step on....See MoreLyn Nielson
