Dairy of a snow shoveler
Comments (6)I laughed so hard reading this my husband woke-up in the other room and thought I went crasy(I don't laugh much) When I first started reading I thought well this must be someone who doesn't have to get up and out and gone by 6am. I don't, not because I'm a work at home or retired, but I work seasonaly. But still sorry to say I love to shovel snow.My husband says when I shovel I'm a loly-gager.I don't push my self to huffing and puffing but I do get over heated.I'II even go out at midnight if its piling-up and shovel. It's amazing at night. When I look out at 5pm and see the rest of the neibours coming home and can't get into their drive ways I smile. But I do remind my husband how good he has it.Our driveway is 400 ft and has four parking spots and a turn -around. Plus I shovel a path to the garbage can,the propane tank and a path to the barn. I make sure the out door plug-in cord is visable and easy for him to get at too.I don't want a hero cookie. But I bet the guys down the street wish I belonged to them ,at least during the winter. Thanks for the laughs.Purple...See MoreCan anyone recommend realistic electric logs for fireplace?
Comments (1)Dimplex makes a nice insert. I'd forget the logs bit though. To make it look right you need it right to begin with. We have a Desa insert as well and it's nowhere near as nice as the Dimplex (Lowe's)...See MoreShovel snow off my deck?
Comments (3)Your local code should account for a normal amount of snow. If you can an EPIC amount of snow for where you live, you'll want to shovel. Use a plastic shovel. My neighbor didn't shovel his, though, and while the snow pile up above his deck railings, his deck was fine once it reappeared in April or May....See MoreDon't Laugh. Comments (13)I recently got one with a bend in the handle & like it. You can't flip snow off like a regular one, but it's generally easier on the back. Get a regular one too. Plastic edge is ok. Metal edge can chip a bit of ice, but it's not a big deal. If you need to chip ice, get a small metal shovel with a handle & steel blade, not a snow shovel. Always have at least 2 snow shovels. You never know who might offer to help or who you may want to help. As a final note, take a break if your back starts to tighten up. A heating pad & toddy are your friend. Did anyone mention lift with your legs, not your back. A little easier said than done, but something to shoot for. I just moved the snow thrower to the front of the garage. I'm all set for snow now....See Moremxk3 z5b_MI
