Comments (4)I hate to say it, but this plant always looks sort of diseased to me. Especially when it's halfway through its color change. That said, I still think Paul's photos are kind of pretty, insofar as this is a very unique and interesting plant....See MoreSilver Threads Golden Needles/Eternal Flame

Comments (5)My Mother had terrible eyesight even at sixty so one year for Christmas I bought a package of sewing needles and threaded them myself, lots of black and white and neutral colors, some navy and gray, even some red, made them about 15-18 inches long, knotted the ends, then pushed the needles thru a piece of stiff paper. It was a great gift for her as she hated doing any mending because she couldn't see well enough to thread a needle. I don't know how long it took for her to use them all, but they were well appreciated....See MoreWhich planter will the 2 baby Silver Threads & Golden Needles prefer?
Comments (12)Zkathy, no, my soil is very much clay. I amended it a LOT by tilling in lots and lots of humus. I was told by Chris at Hallson to sink the new baby hostas in their pots into the ground and told the same thing by the folks at NH Hosta, where I purchased them. A bit later this week, I will get around to putting an inch of shredded bark mulch over the soil (but not the baby hostas) in the area where I sank their plastic pots. So the baby hostas will spend their first winter sunk into the ground. Then, come spring, I will transplant them to nice clay planters. The Dinky Donna will go into a 9" glazed celadon green pot while the 2 Silver Thread & Golden Needles babies will go into a 17 x 6 x 6" terracotta window box set on the ground in my roses' raised bed....See More
