What style is this antique dresser and what pulls do I need? pic
Comments (11)Yes...Eastlake....and the drop[ pulls are accurate....are you missing some? If you do get new....keep the old ones and only replace what's needed. The nails show because there were decorations, veneer and perhaps a rosette and someone removed them....and the nails are what's left. Pity. But it's still very nice... It's several kinds of wood....I don't see any walnut but then I am not close to it....likely butternut, which is a walnut variety but lighter in color...and perhaps maple and birch. Would have had at one time burl trim. Linda c...See MoreWhere to find matching copper pulls
Comments (3)Top Knobs has a variety of pulls/knobs in antique copper and old english copper, some with matching appliance handles. I have used their Dakota collection pulls/knobs in antique pewter and love their quality and finish. They will also send samples for the smaller pieces for $5 each (a very good deal!). Here is a link that might be useful: Top Knobs, U.S.A....See MoreFloor to match antique heart pine
Comments (11)I got my salvaged heart pine for $6/sf. When I was on the east coast last fall, a Baltimore salvage yard was selling it for $11.50/sf (way too high for my budget) while oak was $1.50. So you're going to pay a premium for the material, as it's less common. I'm wondering how much of the $9K quote is for labor vs. materials. Perhaps one of the pros here can speak to the labor involved in weaving vs. new install. Does "a lot" of weaving mean 10% of the boards or 90%? We had a few areas in our house where there was plywood under the carpet. Rather than feather in, given the long boards, we created decorative inlays. That's less painstaking labor than weaving in. We used some leftover walnut from our last house mixed with heart pine we removed from under the tub....See MoreHardware that Matches Visual Comfort Antique Brass?
Comments (13)I ended up going with Emtek American Classic Mushroom Knobs in French Antique. They are solid brass and have a patina to them. They are well priced and I think will be a good match! All of the Emtek American Classic line comes in French Antique. There is not a ton of choices but enough to pick something. I did not find a pull I loved and did two knobs on the larger draws for a clean look....See Moresissamakes
