I'm finally cracking open my 'treasure chest'
Comments (12)I love what has been shown here as suggestions. I can't wait to see what you do. (And I'm following red neck chic now. Cool blog.) If you decoupage it may not last outside (even on a covered porch)UNLESS you use lazertran transfer paper to make decals and then apply them with oil based varnish. I've just learned more about this technique and will report more when I've experimented. Just wanted to mention it since decoupage was brought up as a possibility. Comments (21)I wanted to use Revere Pewter too -- based on photos I'd seen, but it didn't work for me. My local store stopped carrying BM paints, so I went to Sherwin WIlliams. We wound up with Agreeable Grey tinted a little darker at 150%. Accesible Beige was another color we looked at -- along with Anew Grey. I'd check those out. Next to the TV, I agree with moving the lamp to the other side of the room. I would put art on the wall, but before deciding on size or arrangement, I would look at a side chair there -- that could be pulled up for additional seating. Try one of your dining shairs there for feel and see if the idea works. You could have a small side table -- even a garden stool that could double as another seat if you entertain, and then fill in wall decoration. ETA I see graywings had the same idea was I was typing (and being distracted)....See MoreAdvice for my “open concept” kitchen/dining/living room?
Comments (10)Hi, Lindsay. I've got a few furniture arrangements to consider. They all have a moveable island cart for the kitchen. The first two are similar to your current set-up, in that they define the entry. One has the reversible chaise while the other is a regular sofa. The last one has a sideboard behind the sofa. It would serve as a sofa table and provide additional storage. You could think about placing your less frequently used kitchen items in there. The last one also has a reversible chaise. Pottery Barn has some reversible chaises, but I'm not certain their upholstered furniture is of high quality, so you'll want to look into that. Their case goods may be okay. Here are examples of the reversible chaise sofa and a sideboard. The chaise on the sofa has a storage compartment. The dimensions of each seem to be compatible with one another. They have quite a selection....See MoreI need help with my bathroom design I love open concept.
Comments (3)I think you will need to provide a layout including measurements to have any kind of meaningful input. That said, I would get rid of the tub because that is a terrible shower. My preference would be to have a great shower versus a tub and a cramped shower. When I remodeled I got rid of my tub/shower and replaced it with a beautiful functional walk in shower. If you must have a tub at least consider a tub/shower because it is far more comfortable to use than a small stall shower like you have. I prefered using my tub/shower combination to the stall shower in my guest bath which I used for a few weeks after an operation limited mobility. I doubt whether you have enough space to have a comfortable enclosure for the toilet but you might be able to move in to where the shower is. Depending on your budget and what lies below the floor it is theoretically possible. Whatever you do get a skirted toilet so those unattractive traps aren't showing on the side. Skirted toilets are sleeker looking and easier to get clean....See Moretracefloyd
