Hi, the tiling job is in a brand new house, done by a sub-contractor of our builder. We didnt really have a choice but trusted our building to select someone who does good work. The other subs he hired seemed to do great work, and the floor looked good so I guess we assumed he knew how to do backsplash for kitchen & bath... We talked to the builder & sub - today, he started to rip down the tile, all the while destroying our brand new sheetrock.. We had to basically tell him how to re-do it, explain step by step. cross your fingers! Going to re-post this with tile in the subject line to get more responses, please take a look! Lighter beige or grey would be pretty. I would do either the riverrock or the small tiles that are in the shower, for the backsplash. I too though was thinking of doing nothing for the backsplash because it does look so pretty already. As for the Weird Wall I suggest three, say 12x12, framed pics of nature. White mats with wood frame to match the mirror frame. I would do sepia colored pics of leaves or trees. You could save a bundle by going outside and taking some pics yourself, get readymade frames if you can get color to match. I like the idea of a simple plant on the vanity. Maybe a white, ceramic pot. I would cover the "dirt" in the pot with small river rocks. You can get them at the dollar or craft store pretty cheap. Or to save even more you can get some out of the yard, like pea gravel, and shine them up with spray on sealant or I think when I was a kid we used glue.

I think the cabinets are lovely and would lend themselves to many options. Are you wanting granite? other solid surface? It's a fairly neutral bathroom as is (floor and vanity) so what colors are in the rest of the house and or are your leaning towards? Also, while it;s great for pros to offer help on here, I thought the forums were to share ideas and private messaging was more for personal or unique info.

Hello CK- Although we frequently do use a 4-6 inch backsplash made out of matching material to the countertop, we have also used tile in a vertical position as a backsplash for a fresh, modern look. Even if you could purchase an identical 6 inch quartz piece, the vertical tile backsplash will add more texture and dimension for visual interest, or "excitement" as your contractor suggested, in a very neutral space.
